  1. To what part of the tutu are you sticking them? I have stuck sequins to a tutu skirt flat(like a plate) but on the bodice I have always sewn them as I have not trusted glue. Not alot of help but I would stick them flat.
  2. My DD does not go to Freed any more as she has never had a good experience there. The fitters she has had just do not listen to her.
  3. Swan princess- northern have a separate form as part of their application that they ask is signed by a doctor stating that the applicant is fit for full time dance training. Klaris- I don't remember seeing anything on the Rambert application about a letter from the doctors,I'd better go and check .
  4. My Dd had planned on applying here but our doctors want over £20 to sign the form and along with the audition fee makes it a very expensive audition. Can anyone tell me if you have to send this form off to get an audition , other schools we have looked at state that doctors permission would be needed after offer of a place.
  5. My Dd did this local to us and parents watched the whole thing. I think we had to pay £5 to do so though.
  6. Hi tutucute22, Not sure how it would compare to a ic,2 etc as I don't have any leotards in these dirt if sizes to compare all we have are small, med etc. the size chart from Capezio says 8-10 years. There is a size chart online with measurements tried to post it but it came out funny.
  7. Hi Tutucute22 I think maybe 9 -10 years. Will take some measurements later if that will help at all. Janice

Capezio Childs princess tank leotard black medium again brand new with label and packaging £5 including p+p
  9. Hi my Dd has done the junior summer school at London Studio centre and I would recommend it. Can't help much with the senior except to say that we where impressed with what Dd did and I should think the senior course would just as high a standard.
  10. Hi Angeline I have read your article and it struck a cord with us, as at the beginning of the year DD became very unwell. After many months she was diagnosed with Crohns. She missed a few weeks of classes at the beginning of the Jan term and then when a little better she went to class as much as possible sometimes missing classes because she needed to rest. She had several teachers at her normal at home lessons and also as part of an associate scheme and has a mixed reaction from them, from those that went away and did some research into her illness and possible needs and those that did not seem interested. She has coped very well though it all and is now back to full strength.
  11. My Dd is 15 and wants to audition next year. She has just started on one of the cat schemes which run extra session for auditioning students , when I asked about the sessions I was told that they don't encourage students to audition till they are 18. Last year they had students go off to Rambert and London studio centre so I agree that your Dd does not have to audition now and could wait till 18. Also my DDs Pilates teacher went to London Studio Centre at 16 and has told us she wished she had waited till she was 18 , she felt she would have coped much better if she had waited.
  12. My Dd was offered a place in the company at auditions back in April. But for several reasons she had to turn it down. From the little that we know I think it will be contemporary dance no ballet. As well as the Thursday rehearsals Dd was asked to commit to many weekends as well. The first performance for the company was due to be at big dance 2012 in Traflagar square and also something at Greenwich leading up to the olympics( on a week day though so Dd would have needed time off school). Dd said that the dance they did at the audition was of a high standard and she enjoyed it, she was disappointed to have to turn it down. There is another person on here who's Dd also had a place she might be able to tell you more.
  13. My DD would like to go to the open day but we need some help from those who know the area. We would probably have to travel by train and stay over the night before. Any help on location for hotels and the train station in relation to Hammond's location thanks.
  14. My DD is in suffolks at the moment and likes them very much. We buy from Capezio in London which is not the best because they don't always have all sizes. We would love to get to the factory for a fitting have heard many good things about the fittings there but it is to far. X
  15. Dd wants to follow the classical ballet route , but is well aware of all the issues that go with that choice. She is doing a BTEC level 2 through school at the moment and is loving it. Her teacher had told her the other day that she would find the level 3 at a particular college to easy.I had already said we would not consider this college after seeing some of their performances, I was not impressed. This just led on to thinking what she could do between 16 and 18 is she was not successful at audition. We live in the sticks and transport is not great so that limits what is available. The amount of training that she could get is again difficult as there is not much again the problem with living in the sticks and it is all RAD. We spend huge amounts of time in the car, like alot of other people on this forum. Dd is very certain though whatever she does it has to involve dance.
  16. Hi My Dd wants to audition for vocational schools next school year which is ok with me, her no 1 at the moment is Central she is aware that we could not afford the fees of most school. Anyway my question is if she does not get an offer at her chosen schools and decides to try at 18 she needs to do something. Our college of choice offers A-level and BTEC dance, what are the differences and which is best?
  17. I have had the katz one but I was sent the wrong size so had to send it back. it was nice but had no straps inside and even if the tutu fits perfectly without straps I felt there was still a danger of the tutu sliding inside the bag. I liked being able to fold it in half but again I would not think that I would be very good for the tutu and you would not be able to fold if the tutu has a hoop. I was then sent one by gifted dancer the only 100 cm bag the shop had. It is thicker material than the Katz bag more of a cotton canvas. It's has a strap inside and is lined. Dd not sure about it being pink but in my opinion it is better then the Katz bag. I bought it from stagestruck as they offer free p+p. Hope this helps.
  18. Hotter shoes were one of the recommended brands of shoes that were given to me from the doctor a couple of years ago when I was having trouble with arthritis. They are very comfy.
  19. Defiantly scary my DD will be auditioning next not sure if I am ready for it yet though.
  20. When your reading this forum sitting in the car.
  21. I have been looking at the Exeter cat scheme for my DD but as far as I can tell although it is only 1 Sunday per month the cost/ contribution would still be the same as the Swindon cat which is 4 Sunday's a month, this does not seem right? Also I thought I read somewhere that travel cost and costs for other lessons could possibly be covered by the funding. I can't find where I read this though can anybody shed any light on this?
  22. The associates are assessed in class and are either not offered another year, stay in the same level or move up a level. My Dd is waiting to find out, there us a Saturday off fir half term so hopefully she will find out when she goes back. I do know that nobody is told the results of the assessment until after the auditions.
  23. Glowlight. I have just had an e-mail with the pictures you mentioned and I agree the one of the dancer standing in one leg is awful.
  24. A second vote for Russian pointes. X
