  1. My dd lost some weight over Christmas due to an illness. When she went back to ballet her teacher noticed straight away and asked me if things were ok , which was very reassuring. The doctor wanted to know how much weight she had lost but I was unable to tell him as I had no idea what she weighed before. For a while I felt bad about that but as a normal healthy child living at home there was no need to weigh her.
  2. Dd school does not offer gcse dance but she really wanted to do it so she looked at schools in the next town (are town only has the one school) she found a school that does a BTEC dance course for it pupils in year 10 and 11. She e-mailed the school to enquire, who inturn contacted her school. Her teachers where impressed with dd and they went out of their way to arrange for her to attend the other school one day a week. I think her normal school has to pay and I have to take her and pick her up. But she is loving the course. She is the first and only one who does this as it was not an offered option.

  5. We are in Somerset and travel to London each week. We are lucky to still have a train station In our small town and it takes about 2 1/2 hours it is not to bad at all, lots of time to read.
  6. My dd did sleeping beauty at that age and was a cryolite not sure if that is spelt right basically an ice fairy and also honesty. Friends were cats and rats. Hope that helps.
  7. If you are happy to sew you can squeeze in extra layers of net, not dress net but the really stiff net. Doing this will hold up the floppy layers. Or how about adding a hoop it is a bit of a pain to add a casing after the net has been gathered but it will also support the net.
  8. Hi all Anyone going to audition for ENBs youth dance company tomorrow? We just got home to a message asking if DD was attending. Apparently they sent us an E-mail last week with all the details but we have not received it. Not able to speak to the person who knows till tomorrow and that is a bit late for us to decide if dd should go.We have a two hour journey so Really need info before we set out.
  9. I have used the sansha London site everything I ordered from the sale section turned out to be out of stock. Delivery was slow and no explanation about missing items but when I phoned I was told that as the website was new they were learning and trying to improve the service.
  10. This is what Central has said on their website about the change from RAD. ' The new syllabus will enable Central to offer a fuller and more diverse dance experience, with more performance opportunities than are currently offered. '
  11. My dd attends a RAD school but her teacher will freely admit that when auditioning for schools at 16 it will not matter what exams she has taken. Also Central are stoping RAD grades and starting their own syllabus.
  12. Hmm had found out just a couple of months ago that dd has hypermoblie joints. She started Pilates and her teacher mentioned it. This could be the reason why is struggling to feel the correct muscles then.
  13. Anjuli_Bai ,Your post on turnout was very helpful. My DDs teacher has been talking to her about turnout and to think about the spiral of the legs. Dd is unsure how to identify which muscles she should be using do you have any advice for her?

  15. Gingerbread - I have a grade 6 DVD dd due to take exam in 2 weeks so we do not need any more.
  16. Robin64 thanks for that info I did not know you could get a card for that.
  17. Dd doctor has said she is ok to do as much as she feels able to do and to listen to her body. We are in the process if learning what she can't eat, but the main issue at the moment is that if we go out we gave to plan where the toilets are. It's good to know that Elmhurst are able and happy to work with any dietary requirements. I guess we are just feeling a bit frustrated about how long appointments are taking.
  18. Hi all my dd is waiting on some test to confirm but the docs think she has Crohns. She has been able to do most of her classes taking breaks when needed and is coping with things really well. She would like to apply for the summer school at Elmhurst this year but I am worried how she would cope being away for the week and even if she stands a chance of being offered a place. Also I have been wondering if it might affect her chances of full time training at 16 she turns 15 in May. Any help advice gratefully received. Thanks
