  1. well done to everyone. DD was due to be at Ballet West today but we had to cancel (family reasons). She is gutted. Feeling like a bad mother :-(
  2. Hi Ellie, the dd's friend was 15 at the time and not at vocational school at the time but very good. She was about Advanced 1 level.
  3. Elli...my DD didn't attend but her friend did and said it was fantastic
  4. That's brilliant Frangapani! We still have 3 auditions to go. DD (like Katymac's dd) has a place on two BTec dance courses plus one offer from London Russian Ballet. (The funding is the issue there, sadly) It is great to hear people's news...to be happy with some and commiserate with others.
  5. DD hopes to study philosophy, sociology and biology at London Russian.
  6. We've booked to see them twice at different venues in the Spring. it promises to be a lovely production
  7. Dancique in Birmingham have just fitted DD with a beautiful pair of shoes...after a series of shops which said she had 'difficult' feet, Dancique had a range of styles and makes that she could choose from. They were helpful, attentive and DD came away with a fantastic pair of shoes. Highly recommend Dancique. Would love to visit Just Ballet one day, by the way, Sheila!!!!
  8. dd really likes the Plume ones from Dance Direct. She finds the waistband on the Capezio ones a bit uncomortable
  9. Just ordered a Degas from Just Ballet for DD. I am almost as excited as she is!!! Service from Sheila is AMAZING and FANTASTIC...can't praise her enough. Thank you everyone for your recommendations, help and general marvellousness
  10. Spannerandpony....how do the Degas leotards size up? DD wears a Capezio small but would love a degas leotard
  11. could you ask DH to have a word with mine please Katymac????? :-)
  12. I contacted them about the funding issue....as far as I understand it, there isn't any..but I am very happy to be corrected.
  13. 2dancersmum...we are going to Dancique this coming weekend. dd suits Grishko but our local shop is closing so we need to find an alternative. not exactly local to us but near enough!!!!
  14. this made me chuckle for ages!!!! thank you
  15. I'm with you in thought Katymac. I wish I had parents who could pay for anything..they both died a few years ago (violins please)but I can understand your turmoil. I think. DD needs funding. Bottom line. Btec is preferable to my dd to A levels. My friend's daughter did the Btec then went on to uni and now teaches dance. Dd really wants to dance and teach eventually. We feel as if we are floating around above reality at the moment. (Drama queen, moi?)
  16. We are a small lull but in Feb things start all over again. Still, I have seen parts of the country I have never visited before! I know what you mean Katymac...are there colleges/courses we have missed ? dd now getting added pressure from school about GCSEs. mocks went well. We are pleased. Also a dancing show coming up with her current dance school so extra rehearsals etc are looming on the horizon. Need more hours in the day. Or more days in the week please!
  17. Have you read The unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry?????? I loved that too. Also The Last Runaway???? I love the Buy one get one half price offers...although I can usually find three and either have to decide which one to put back or find a fourth to make it worth it!!! Decisions decisions.
  18. Just found this thread....I am an avid reader (it's not just all that waiting around for dd, I'm sure) and am reading 'Longbourn' at the moment. not great literature but a jolly good read.
  19. bought dd a simple cookery book for Christmas which remains unopened!! She can cook rice and pasta, so she won't starve....just might have an overdose of carbs!! Think we'll start looking at it after GCSEs!!
  20. I contacted this school recently and YES they say it is free!!!
  21. thank you everyone!! you are marvellous!!!
