  1. There used to be 3 in the amphitheatre which were only slightly-varying shades of green, too.
  2. Difficult to see how Hayward and Sambé could have delivered any better than they did tonight, really. And indeed they were cheered to the rafters (or at least to the eau-de-nil ceiling )
  3. Well, it would be a debut if the cast hadn't already done the schools' matinee or whatever it was the other day.
  4. Ah, right, thanks, Frank. I'll amend it when they put the correct link up. For anybody in the San Francisco area, I notice that they put up a 50% discount code during Diamonds: I don't know whether that applies only to that bill or not.
  5. So, summing up, links are at: Australian Ballet - post #89 Bolshoi Ballet - post #77 (no, that's last year's) Royal Ballet - post #84 National Ballet of Canada - post #100 San Francisco Ballet - post #101 If anyone would like to post approximate split times for any of the live streams, I think the Moderators can probably merge them into one post.
  6. Er, I did my Maths O-Level early. I presume the option is still available? How would the "not counting" sit with the double weighting?
  7. Thought I'd piggyback on this thread: is it just me, or are other people finding that the colour coding has changed on the seating plans? I was just looking at Fille and what would normally be the colour for the cheap side amphi seats is being used for a different price band. My poor brain sees the colour and goes "Ooh, cheap seats!", and then I have to disillusion it
  8. That's great, thanks, Pulcinella. I too found some of the changes disconcerting, I must say. Waiting to see what some of the SB purists here have to say about it
  9. Nice to see Sasha Mukhamedov doing so well: I'd rather lost track of her.
  10. It would be good (albeit annoying ) to hear from anyone who had a perfectly fine time of it, too, just for balance. After all, we've been moaning a lot, but we're maybe only a couple of dozen people ...
  11. I've now started a feedback thread for all 3 showings: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/13591-australian-ballet-cinema-broadcasts-discussion-thread/
  12. Well, for anyone just back from the AB cinema broadcasts, here's your chance to discuss it. I wondered how Sleeping Beauty was going to come in at 2 1/2 hours - significant cuts to Acts II and III is the answer. The credits rolled through so quickly that I couldn't spot who all the dancers were, and there were no casts sheets: can anyone tell me who were Bluebird and Florine? I can probably guess if I go and haul this summer's programme out. And I'm guessing the fairy of musicality would have been the canary one?
  13. Well, it is a Sadler's Wells coproduction: I don't know whether that makes any difference, but they've issued numerous DVDs in the past.
  14. thetrainline.com is tantalising me, dangling £9 singles to Southampton in front of me. Trouble is, I can't as yet find out for what trains they're valid!
  15. Have suddenly started getting: "PLAYBACK STREAM ERROR. This video isn't encoded for your device." That would be this video I've (reasonably) happily been watching on this device for the last hour or so, would it?
  16. Ah, thanks, Quintus. The Ooyala logo has been sitting over the "full screen" button so I haven't been able to use it. I was forgetting this laptop has a touchscreen and I could do that.
  17. That's exactly what I've been getting, capybara. Once I changed from the old laptop, which was obviously part of the problem, I did at least manage to get online, and caught part of the Anastasia rehearsal (plus Scottish Ballet, NB) and what have you, then it froze partway through the Charlotte MacMillan interview. I got a few seconds of Fille, then we went back to Charlotte, and then it froze again. So I will probably have screwed the new laptop up all for nothing and will have to waste a few more hours of my life putting it together again. At least I didn't pay anyone large sums for 24 hours' wifi, as I had considered doing.
  18. Having now signed up for my 2 free articles a week with The Times, I note from today's email telling me what's in there: "How to build strong muscles whatever your age - and stay fit and healthy for years" I mention in case it's of use to anyone here. I trust the link takes you to the right place, as I copied and pasted it straight from the email, but don't want to waste my quota on it just in case.
  19. "The little circle on the screen goes round and round, round and round, round and round, The little circle on the screen goes round and round, all day long." Can't tell whether it's just my broadband playing up - which it has been for the last few days, but not usually during the daytime - or whether I should take a laptop out for a walk somewhere and find some wifi.
  20. I'm just wondering whether exercising in a swimming pool would help with the back extensions. I know I can get my legs higher to the front and side when they're "floated" up, but am not sure whether this will work for the back, if it's a joint problem rather than a muscle problem?
  21. Well, thus far, watching on the Facebook site, I've only got the little circle going round and round and round and round ...
  22. I'm sure Vadim *could* alternate, it's just that they've never alternated anyone in it before, despite what I thought were some very good opportunities. Maybe the rehearsal/performance schedule just doesn't allow it.
  23. I have a bit of a problem with Vadim in Diamonds, because I think I may also want to cast him in Emeralds. Hmm ...
  24. Getting rather ahead of myself here, since it's not on for months yet, but it occurred to me today that there have been a lot of departures from the Royal Ballet of dancers previously cast in Jewels since the previous run of the ballet. Leanne Benjamin and Roberta Marquez from "Emeralds", Carlos Acosta and Ricardo Cervera from "Rubies", and Rupert Pennefather from "Diamonds" are the ones which immediately come to mind, although there may be others. So, there will be a lot of gaps to fill. Who would you cast? (And would you move around existing casts?)
