  1. Hello MuscleMary and welcome to the Forum!
  2. You could both carry a copy of a magazine (eg Dance Europe, although other magazines are available) open at page 26!
  3. But they usually tour what they are performing in Birmingham in the Spring and Autumn seasons. Also as this year's midscale is all new, it will probably be the same rep at the alternate venues next year.
  4. Good luck with your venture Dave. We are mostly UK based although we do have plenty of overseas members.
  5. Joy, to be blunt - please read your own postings on this thread and see that you yourself could apply some politeness and good manners to your postings. This is me speaking as me and not in any official capacity.
  6. Glad you've got your brochure! Mine still hasn't arrived... I agree with your comments about the season.
  7. BRB have released a short film about remaking the costumes for The Moor's Pavane, which is part of midscale North and the Autumn mixed programme:
  8. Good to hear of the new company Angela, it sounds as though it should be very interesting. I'm not familiar with the Munich dancers you mention or, individually the Cedar Lake dancers but I was fortunate to see Cedar Lake on their UK tour a couple of years ago and the dancers were truly fabulous.
  9. Hope you manage to meet, even though Trog is not an Ashton or Upper Room fan!!!
  10. I think there were around 20 people in the cinema showing of Giselle that I attended - mixed genders and ages - and everybody was rapt throughout. It was a pleasure to share the auditorium with them! (Odeon Switch Island, Liverpool)
  11. John Ross' Moving new dance production to open in Leeds Award-winning choreographer John Ross comes to Leeds for the first time this May with a brand new dance-theatreproduction. Performing at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre for one performance only on 4 May 2016, John Ross Dance presents Blink, an interpretation of American author Mitch Albom’s best-selling novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven. Blink tells the story of Eddie and reminds us that no meeting or action goes without a reaction. A bitter old man, Eddie dies trying to save a little girl and this begins a series of encounters with five important people from instrumental periods in his life. Set to the beautifully haunting music of composer Greg Haines, Blink stages Ross’ signature trademark of emotive and physically compelling storytelling and marks his second tour of the UK. A video documentary will also be exhibited before the live performance, detailing a series of interviews with children and people over the age of 60 on questions relating to the production’s themes of love and life. Tickets for Blink by John Ross Dance at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, Leeds are on sale now and can be booked online at theatreleeds.com or by calling the box office on 0113 220 8008. All tickets are priced at £10. - ENDS - Notes to Editors John Ross Dance Established in 2011, John Ross Dance combines contemporary dance and theatre to tell creatively engaging stories that can connect to a wide audience. 12. We've got a very long thread on audience behaviour. I have to say that constant clapping throughout a performance is not to my taste. It is distracting and I find it insulting to other members of the audience who are appreciating the performance without the need to show that appreciation till appropriate places. http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/1654-audience-behaviour/
  13. The post was not an insult. We have had discussions in the past about claque-style clapping and that was what the post related to. I myself commented on what I saw as unnecessary clapping (not claque-style) during the Royal Ballet streaming of Giselle.
  14. A post has been hidden because it is in breach of paragraph 3 of the Acceptable Use Policy: "Contributors must be respectful to others." Janet McNulty on behalf of BalletCo Forum Moderators
  15. If it is the pd3 I think it is, in the BRB version (by Sir Peter Wright) it is danced by Benno and 2 courtesans who wear rather elaborate tutu style dresses.
  16. Johan Kobborg has put a statement on FB this evening that would indicate that all is not well with his situation. Looks like it may be the end of the road. I admire his integrity. https://www.facebook.com/johan.kobborg.1?fref=ts
  17. Several people have come up to me in theatres and introduced themselves because of my avatar. I love to meet fellow ballet-lovers. I'm from the North (still here) and will talk to anyone too!
  18. When I read the title, I thought the thread was about limbo dancing!! Having said that the article is very interesting. Is the situation the same in the UK?
  19. I've found these 2 links: http://skouratoff.com/index.htm http://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803100510364
  20. Hello Joy and welcome to the Forum! The interesting thing of this thread and its sister one about favourite ballets is how many have appeared on both lists! It's great we are all different. Do keep joining in!
