  1. Again - costs will vary from school to school and person to person, but it would be useful for others, I'm sure, if you could be share (in vague terms) so people have an idea of what they're letting themselves in for.
  2. A fab "rebuttal" here https://headtailconnection.wordpress.com/2015/04/10/a-rebuttal/
  3. Flora - I've merged your comment into this existing thread
  4. I'm intrigued by the principal of Trinity Laban claiming to be the UK's no 1 dance school....
  5. Welcome to the forum Gollyrox (and what a great name). And congratulations to your son. My son was Head Boy at Elmhurst a few years ago so I've got a soft spot for the school. I'm sure your son will enjoy the experience. Hope to hear more from you on the forum :-)
  6. Lol looks like we were doing it at exactly the same time!
  7. That's a shame Debs but thanks for letting us know. I gather they intended sending these last week (but who knows, as this happens every year). There are some "waiting list" letters going out too, so maybe by the end of today they'll have at least contacted everyone. Hope for the waiting list students that people turn down places that aren't wanted asap!
  8. There a bit of info about costs for Urdang on there Urdang thread. http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/9367-urdang/#entry125761
  9. Welcome to the forum Eowyn - many congratulations on your news and please do continue to post.
  10. I'm glad you raised this - took me completely by surprise when my son hit year 11 at Elmhurst, followed a year later by (but at least I then knew) my daughter who was on a very good bursary at a private school! Can't believe no-one told us, at either school, before we went!
  11. Oh Stirrups... Ever the mathematician ;-)
  12. I'm sure people would rather hear they're on a waiting list than just being left in the dark when they know others have heard.
  13. Very enjoyable! Excellent performances from all involved. Completely different from anything I'd seen before. Not something I'd put on my CD player to listen to but watching them perform it was great. Great views of my young friend on the big screen too. Shame her boyfriend couldn't get to see it ;-)
  14. Glad that Mahagonny went ahead as we were watching in the cinema - petty cold in there too, mainly due to the lack of people sadly!! But at least we could get refreshments in the interval unlike the patrons of the ROH who just got water according to the announcement at the start.
  15. I find so much media exposure a bit of a "turn off" personally - I'm not into celebrity culture. But I wish her well - the same as I would anyone getting their first contract.
  16. I found my son's old WL blazer and tracksuit while clearing out the other day. Happy memories. And hfbrew is right, it's tough for a few years but you come out the other side eventually and end up spending your money on other things (flights and tickets to watch them dance if you're lucky!!) I do feel for those of you with daughters though - the uniform at WL and Elmhurst costs more for to their skirts I seem to remember, plus all those pointe shoes! But exciting times ahead for you x
  17. This is like torture - and I'm only waiting for news from friends!! So pleased for you regattah and taxi!!!
  18. I presume you mean the school rather than the company...? I've changed the title so let me know if I'm wrong
  19. We had the same experience at WL in that our MDS didn't cover uniform (although I think some people could claim - there was something to tick on the application form asking if you wanted it - which we did - but we didn't qualify). Then my son went to Elmhurst in year 10 and we had about £600 a year to "spend" (because the fees were slightly lower I believe)
  20. Ahhh, how lovely to see a blast from the last with some of our names on from the old days ;-)
  21. Two young dancers from our local dance school got in - that's as close as I get these days lol
  22. Thanks Alison. Looks like we're still on for tonight but just going to check
  23. Hello MAK - welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your news on here. It's useful for people to read about the no's too. Please do keep posting and hope your dc continues to enjoy his/her ballet.
