Bluebird
Daria Klimentová's name doesn't appear. Is she injured?
alison
The same thought had occurred to me.
aileen
There are some interesting pairings here. Apart from Tamara/Vadim I'd really like to see Ksenia and Esteban dance together. I saw them do something during the Tate residency and they looked very good together. It will be interesting to see how well the Tamara/Vadim partnership works. What has undoubtedly contributed to the success of the Daria/Vadim partnership is their friendship and enjoyment of one another's company. I've no reason to think that Tamara and Vadim won't get on but Tamara seems to have a very different personality to Daria, and of course she will be Vadim's boss which must make the partnership a rather intimidating prospect! I wonder whether companies undervalue the importance of dancers in a partnership getting on. Obviously, dancers have to be flexible and can't always dance with the same people but a mutual liking must really contribute to a performance particularly in the big dramatic ballets where chemistry between the leads is so important to the enjoyment of the ballet. Does anyone have any news of Daria. I hope that she's not leaving ENB. I've heard on the grapevine (seen on Twitter) that her (auto)biography is being written. Jan McNulty
Nothing to do with ENB but many years ago we were made aware that 2 dancers in a regular partnership with another company loathed each other. In performance you never would have realised and, in some ways, perhaps it contributed to the success of the partnership. I think I am going to have to book a couple more performances! Beryl H
I'm very pleased to see ENB have announced casting as far ahead as January, actually just beating Friends booking for Covent Garden next week, nice to be able to book for both without dates clashing as would have happened! Sim
Daria has never liked the role of Aurora...indeed, she hates it so won't dance it! But all is not lost; she will be dancing Lilac Fairy in the Vadim/Tamara cast. She is fine, and not leaving ENB. She and Vadim are still very much a partnership but are guesting abroad a lot as this gives them more opportunity to dance in a wider repertoire. They recently had great success in Moscow with Swan Lake (no mean feat!!). And they will be dancing Nutcracker with ENB during the Christmas season.
alison
Thanks for that, Sim. I must admit, I hadn't noticed her aversion to Aurora, but then she *was* pregnant when Derek Deane's in-the-round production was premiered, which I took to be why she wasn't dancing it (I think she danced Lilac Fairy in that, didn't she?). Talking of Nutcracker, I've noticed that it's been years since Rojo actually danced anything in the RB production of it. I wonder if that'll continue? (I always assumed that, what with dancing Clara and SPF at ENB she'd probably had enough of them to last her a lifetime).
alison
ENB casting for all performances of "Sleeping Beauty" including the Coliseum has been put on their website: (That's Milton Keynes, Manchester and Liverpool as well as London: http://www.ballet.or...tails.php?id=18. Anna C
Thanks for this, I must get round to booking as my Aunt always sends us money for Christmas which we usually use to see Nutcracker. Having done Nutcracker for the past two years we're going to have a change and see Beauty after Christmas.

Jan McNulty
Thanks for relating the venues to the dates DQF, it makes it much easier to work out. I hope you don't mind but I've merged your posting with the earlier topic.
