    I was very impressed by Brandon in the rehearsal - I usually only focus on the women to be honest (I'm with Balanchine on that! :-) ) but he was marvelous dancing with Celine Gittens then (she positively glowed!)

    I went to one live showing (Winters Tale) where the dancers' feet were cut off - at the knees in fact. We all complained at the interval and to the manager's credit it was fixed. And if you complained via their website, a free token was issued to see another cinema special of your chosing. It would seem that the projectionist used his judgement on this occasion to fill as much of the screen as possible from the live feed. In the 'warm up' before the curtain went up, this appeared OK and it only became apprent that it wasn't, once the dancing started. I think the live feed is not a standard cinema screen size, hence their problem.

    I think they produce a 6ft cast 'board' placed on the ground floor bar/foyer area.

    fast cutting around has ruined live music coverage. I want to see the band, not how clever you are at snapping between different camera angles... grrrr!

    I always thought they were the 'nationals' attacked by the mice at the start of the battle - though I can't say I'm in any way certain about that!! :-)

    nah - cost about £1m to make (which is still a lot!) - perhaps the whole campaign cost the £17m

    I thought his role was more as a mentor, offering encouragement and ideas for collaboration for enhancing the choreography of the young, next generation choreographers, rather than making them follow directly in his stylistic footsteps. The new works in the Clore that were put on before the McGregor triple on the main stage, bear that out.

    perhaps they could crowd-fund it, and those that donate to a certain level get a free DVD (or blu-ray); higher sponsors get signed copies, that sort of thing...

    The prices (at least, the standing ones I use) were equivalent to a 'normal' triple bill of MacMillan/Ashton/AN Other or whatever. Triple bills were always cheaper when I first started attending (back in 2004) and often didn't sell out even then. Happily, they do seem more popular currently - the McGregor effect? As for moving ballet forward - McGregor's pieces are recently usually in pointe shoes (so yes, for me, definitely ballet), and whilst some of the steps are frankly ugly, many are astoundingly beautiful - so yes, I think he is expanding ballet, if not necessarily moving it 'forwards'. And whilst some may not, many of the the dancers do seem to enjoy working with him. Wasn't the same thing said of MacMillan in his earlier works and some of the steps and lifts he created? Many of the 'contemporary' Ballet Russes works back in the day (thinking of the Stravinsky's here in particular) were howled at - and are now considered classics (some of which though, I'd happily never see again I can't deny). Just my 2p worth :-)

    No, I like a lot of his works too. Not everything, but adore Infra, love Chroma, Woolf Works (though the mid section was a challenge at times), Carbon Life and so on. I also think the final pdd in Raven Girl a keeper (can see that in galas for a good few years). I also liked Live Fire Exercise (in a distinct minority there i think!). Saying that, there are a few I don't like, and the first 2 sections of Multiverse definitely fall into that category, though the newly commisioned part is one I like.

    Picking one or the other to replace the first two sections of Multiverse, sounds a plan. I actually liked the third, which had the new score only.

    Thought Madison Keesler this afternoon was compellingly wonderful. For me, it's a jaw dropping production, in which she gave a shut my mouth so my jaw can drop again, type performance. Give her more to do, Tamara!
