  1. There's also one performance with only 23 seats available, which is as good as sold out for a theatre with a capacity of 2,256. But what strikes me as interesting about the advance ticket sales for this bill is that, barring one performance where there are about 100 seats in the lower tiers, the vast majority of the unsold tickets are in the cheaper areas of the house. I don't know whether this is just people who would sit elsewhere for "traditional" ballets make use of the top price tickets being that bit cheaper or whether it relates to the economic demographic of people interested in the bill. It would be great to understand the ticket sales but I don't think we will ever get the chance.
  2. Over 90% of the tickets are sold already, which is, I would say, slightly higher than the average advance sale for a triple bill. As to your second suggestion, do you have any evidence to suggest that this is indeed the case?
  3. If anyone is interested, there are reduced price tickets available at tkts.
  4. The order and running time (taken from the show webpage) is as follows: Human Seasons (40 mins) Interval (25 mins) After the Rain (25 mins) Interval (30 mins) Flight Pattern (35 mins) Means the Gorecki is cut as the symphony usually runs about 52 minutes.
  5. O'Hare has previously said there will be no more promotions to character artist (principal or otherwise).
  6. This ticket has been returned to the box office. Interestingly, the hold music on the 'phone was the Sleeping Beauty waltz...
  7. Thanks Fonty. I was also going to say that the RB's Lilac Fairy variation doesn't contain Italian fouettés. Italian fouettés are those found in Gamzatti's variation and that of the Queen of the Dryads in Don Q (a developé followed by a turn with a transition of the leg into attitude, though it can also end in arabesque). The Lilac Fairy simply does a fouetté whilst turning. Interesting that many other major ballet companies do not include this (pretty difficult) step in their Lilac Fairy variation.
  8. Correct (though the Royal Ballet School are doing Concerto in their summer performances).
  9. I recall Naghdi performing the Lilac Fairy variation rather wonderfully in the Young British Dancer of the Year (the year before she won the competiton).
  10. According to the official website, the first night is still 21 March (though tickets are at reduced price until 31 March).
  11. I think it's the failure of the owner of the ballet, rather than the RB's memory.
  12. I agree with some (quite a lot) of what TTP says, but I have to take issue with the rose-based pirouettes - I saw Osipova dance twice (2nd and 3rd shows) and both times she did the correct number of pirouettes (in fact, in the third show, she only just about managed the fourth pirouette on the final rose).

  14. A number of dancers have already mentioned on social media that there'll be Nutcracker for Christmas 17.
  15. It's already been announced that the new Swan Lake will be in the 17/18 season.
