  1. I have the adult Capezio duffle bag for sale. It is black with pockets at both ends including a mesh section. Has handles as well as a shoulder strap. In immaculate condition- £12 inc p&p
  2. Think it's 4 but I'll have a count when I get home :-) Its the one that is for sale from DanceDirect.
  3. I have the white Intermezzo practice tutu for sale size sm/m. In immaculate condition- £10 plus p&p :-)
  4. That sounds amazing!!! You need to post a pic of that :-)
  5. I'm really hoping that this will be one of the theatre trips organised through my DD's CAT scheme this year.
  6. My own hairdresser kindly orders my DD huge tubs of hair grips and hair pins from her wholesaler. Cheapest hairnets I have found come from 247 dancewear in Rochdale.
  7. We were looking at Juilliard's summer dance intensive which lasts for 3 weeks. The dates this year were from 15th July so not too bad especially as my dd takes her GCSE's next year so will be leaving school early (she's not at vocational school). However, as they audition all over the States for 44 places I think it's a bit of a pipe dream anyway!
  8. What a shame. I'm also curious about summer schools in US (especially New York) as my partner is going to be working there next year so would be a perfect opportunity to combine a visit and for dd to attend a SI.
  9. Is there any feedback from the American summer intensives? I seem to remember discussions last year when ABT (I think) auditioned for the first time in London and some ballet co'ers knew of successful auditionees.
  10. Wow, Twoballerinas0004 sounds like a lot of juggling and a lot of travelling. Good luck to you :-)
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum. Northern Ballet's website (northern ballet.com) is very informative and there is a section about the Academy where they post all the information about the CAT and associate schemes. You have missed the auditions for this year so will be looking towards 2013 now. I wouldn't have thought any-one will be able to give you exact details about times of classes etc (only their own DC's experiences)as that is determined on your age and what year group you are placed in to if successful. You can always ring the academy staff, they are very helpful. For information on funding you need to access www.nationaldancecats.co.uk. This site will give you all the information you need about funding. The places are funded by MDS but this is means tested so how much you receive towards tuition, travel and expenses depends on parental income, so again there is no definitive answer I'm afraid. :-)
  12. Oh, I though it was about Ballet West from Scotland not Utah!!!
  13. Thanks Kathy, guess I could have looked that up myself!!! :-D I had heard that it is classed as a private university and you can only get partial funding but didn't realise how much the contribution would be. Cross that one off the list then!
  14. Sorry to hijack the thread a little. Does anyone's ds or dd attend LSC full time and if so can you advise on the funding arrangements? Thanks :-)
  15. Congratulations to her (and you) on her patience. Good luck for the results.....how long do they normally take to come through?
  16. Huge congratulations to all the graduates and best wishes for the future
  17. Don't forget your flippers!!
  18. Brilliant news! Was it your DS who had to have an appendicectomy recently? You were unsure if he would be able to audition, he obviously recovered well Good luck to all those still waiting for results.
  19. Thanks for this, have just ordered it off Amazon for £5.66! Think it will be useful for my DD when it comes time for audition solos.
  20. I used to have an expensive watch and every day when I got in I would take it off and put it on the spice rack. One day I got up and the watch wasn't there and I had no idea what had happened to it or where I had put it. I searched the house from top to bottom with no success. One day my mum was babysitting and rung me at work to say she had found the watch, I was so thrilled until she told me where it was...... smashed and flattened into the tarmac outside my house!!!! It must have fallen off my wrist without me realising and gone under the car, I had been driving over and over it for weeks!!! :-( Oh heck, heck, heck :-D
  21. Who hasn't sent an e-mail or text at some time when the tone has been ambiguous and where the message has been misinterpreted by the reader? Communication is so much more than the words themselves. The subject was emotive (anything that involves our children is), and people expressed strong views; this site is populated by intelligent, articulate and opinionated people, that is why I enjoy coming on here. I hope it hasn't deterred anyone from being involved in the site or the discussions. I for one think it is very magnanimous of you to apologise taxi :-) Maybe we should stick to discussing 50 Shades of Grey as on Not Dance forum!! hehe
  22. TBH not sure I am liking. Totally agree with Julie, her style of writing is irritating me as it is too formulaic and cliched for me. I do not feel the two principal characters are believable either, I am struggling to continue with it (bored.....come back belle du Jour haha). It certainly is Mills and Boon with knobs (love that!!), think I'll go back to my Jo Nesbo :-D
  23. My dd also didn't start contemporary until she was 14 and auditioned for the CAT scheme at NSCD. Apart from DanceEast (I think), the contemporary CATs don't audition until they are 13 as you are right that there is a physical maturity and strength required for it. She had studied ballet, tap and modern jazz since she was 6. :-)
