  1. Thanks guys. I suppose my fear was that it may have been an attempt to encourage people to post photographs of their sons in the position iykwim, or people may have felt that they were being helpful by posting photographs of their sons. The OP’s posting history seems a bit questionable as well, lots of topics about whether boys can/should do things ‘for girls’ and extreme stretching/positions, and they never seem to come back and reply to the threads they start which also makes me query whether this poster is genuine or possibly getting a bit of a kick from these sorts of threads.
  2. Is it just me that feels this is a slightly unusual question by a relatively new member of the forum? I apologise if I’m off the mark but it seems a little bit inappropriate. Perhaps I am a little over sensitive/paranoid but I have seen many dodgy questions asked on dance costume selling sites and the tone of this post seems off to me.
  3. Birmingham Royal Ballet have cancelled their training events that were due to run in Sunderland this weekend. We were refunded this morning. Such a shame but obviously understandable!
  4. Fabulous! Hope he loves it! Mine is Newcastle Y5 so just a bit far 😂😂😂 But what a fantastic opportunity for London JAs x
  5. Oh wow, is this for the London JAs? What a fantastic experience for them! x
  6. It is a shame! My DS is not too upset as he has been offered spring and is a JA so already has opportunities with RBS, but I feel for those children who perhaps don’t and have received this email. Fingers crossed for us all! x
  7. Ahhh brilliant thank you for clarifying this. It’s a shame that it’s worded this way as I have mistakenly now told my DS he has a place! Never mind.
  8. Has everybody else who was waitlisted for summer received the same strange email this afternoon advising that they need to accept their place on the summer course before the deadline expires tomorrow? x
  9. Well done to your daughter! The sessions are long time-wise, but from what I understand there is quite a lot of sitting and watching others dance during rehersals? So they aren’t at it non-stop...but saying that sometimes it’s just as tiring for them to sit around waiting for their turn, isn’t it! I would say if your DD is really keen, give it a go! My DS is dancing with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in The Nutcracker at The RAH this year. Birmingham is 3 hours away from us and when I saw all the rehersal times, at first I thought ‘Oh no, what have we done!’ 🤭😂 And wondered whether he would be able to cope, on top of all his normal classes etc. But he has absolutely loved it all, even when he knows we have to travel six hours with a few hours practice sandwiched in between, he doesn’t feel tired because he really wants to do it. Some evenings his rehersals finish at 8.30pm so we don’t get back until 1am and he is still raring to go for school (and dance!) the next day. Your DD will probably surprise you, but only you really know how intense everything else she has going on is and how well she usually copes with having a lot on. Good luck if you decide to go for it, I am sure she will be wonderful! x
  10. Good luck with the juggling! We always seem to somehow make it work don’t we and it’s so worth it for their little faces! Ha. Yes, my DS was the one with the ponytail! Ha! Always easy to identify him by his hair! 😂
  11. My son was given a junior place but unfortunately the rehersal dates clash with the RBS spring intensive so he won’t be able to do it which is a shame! Good luck to your daughter for rehersals! x
  12. Thanks so much for pointing out that this is a possibility guys, I probably quite naively assumed it wouldn’t be possible to be given a place on both. At least I know now! Thanks x
  13. Well done to all of those with a yes or a waiting list place, and sorry for the ‘not yets’. Has anybody’s DD/DS ever been offered a place on both the spring and summer intensive? We applied for both and I assumed if succesful my DS would only be offered one of the two, it hadn’t occurred to me that you could be offered a place on both? Does anybody know if this is possible?
  14. We received our email this afternoon, a yes for my DS, he is over the moon! Good luck to all still waiting 🤞🌟
  15. Did your email say the same as mine, that we’d hear by the end of the week? I’ve had a quick google and seems it’s earlier than it has been previous years? Which is fab but just wondering if I’ve missed something and we might actually hear later x
  16. Hi everybody, Just wondered if anybody else has applied for the Spring intensive at WL for next year? The email I got back for my DS said results would be emailed week ending 23/11/19 so I’m wondering if that means we should hear back by the end of the week? Anybody else waiting to hear?
  17. Not late at all Jan, thank you so much for posting! Great to see the video, it looks brilliant!
  18. Thank you so much for sharing your boys experiences, it sounds fantastic! We are a long way from Birmingham but would definitely be prepared to travel as it just seems like too fabulous an opportunity to not try out! Good luck to everybody who’s DDs and DSs decide to audition!
  19. I've received an email back saying that eventbrite is definitely the official channel to apply through, so about to apply for my DS. Anybody who did this last year that could provide any insight into what it was like? Sounds like an absolutely incredible opportunity!
  20. My DS would love to try out for this but I'm a bit wary with it being the 2018 form and no details anywhere else online from what I can see. Has anybody else found anything? EDIT: I've emailed them, so will report back!
  21. Thank you so much to everybody for your experiences. Lots to think about!
  22. Ahhh, huge congratulations to your DS too! It's so difficult isn't it. On one hand you absolutely don't want to burn them out and damage their love for it by letting them do too much, but at the same time when they are given such fantastic opportunities to enhance their training, you don't want to decline them for your DS because you want to see them achieve their dreams! Such a difficult decision to make. It might all be for nought for us anyway as Elmhurst classes might clash with RBS, and like you we've already accepted RBS JA's (of course!) but it feels like a bit of a quandry and thought there'd be some others here who must have gone through the same thing! x
  23. Good morning everybody, Just looking for some advice really. My DS has been offered a place with both Elmhurst and RBS, in Sunderland and Newcastle respectively. Although the RBS time has been confirmed, Elmhurst have advised they are adjusting their timetable so cannot yet give a time. I was wondering, how common is it for children to do both programmes? Is that acceptable/generally advised/advised against? He was originally dead set that if offered both he would jump at the RBS place but now he has been offered Elmhurst he is making noises about the possibility of attending both. I feel like this would porbably be too much, but aside from that, just wondered if anybody had any experiences of doing two associate programmes, how the different schools were about it, how your DD/DS found it? Thank you!
  24. Awww Tiny that’s fantastic congratulations to your DD!
