  1. Hope you enjoy - I am going this evening as well. Its a shame about James Hay not being able to perform.
  2. That's a good question - last year in the short run of the Nutcracker James Hay was performing but the picture certainly wan't him - it looked more like Sandi Toksvig!
  3. Some lovely backstage photos of The Nutcracker from the ROH's Flickr account - https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72157720178764449
  4. Thank you! They are certainly a cast to look forward to - I haven't seen that much of Corrales - I think the last time was in Manon.
  5. Thank you John, that's very kind of you. I am getting better but don't really want to take any risks tomorrow! Hopefully I will better by Monday as I am booked for the Nutcracker! I have also just re-booked for Giselle on Wednesday.
  6. I do hope that everyone who is going to see the early evening performance of Giselle thoroughly enjoys it. Unfortunately I have come down with something (not Covid!) so can't attend, and in any event I can't risk getting stuck in London due to the adverse weather in my current state.
  7. Dear oh dear! I think the Telegraph might have got their wires crossed referencing three females and one male, when its the exact opposite! I'm none the wiser as to quite why the decision has been made to change it (though I can well understand why the Chinese Dance was changed). Anyway, perhaps its an improvement; I will find out on Monday!
  8. I'm no good with heights at all (more of a fear of falling really) which is why I avoid the amphitheatre (I've only sat there three times and that was out of necessity). The thought of standing in the slips.....😬
  9. From the Foundations's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BDNX79JwkQ
  10. I did manage to see him in the Nutcacker last year (as I was one of the lucky few to actually get to see a performance) but still.....
  11. That's a shame (for them and us) - especially as I was booked for the 29th Nov Nutcracker to see James. Hope they all recover soon.
  12. Interestingly (or perhaps not!) the old printed cast sheets had the creatives, then conductor and orchestra on the front page and then the cast on the inside pages. Not sure why the conductor, concert master and orchestra are now included as part of the cast. They also didn't include details any senior staff other than the director.
  13. Here's the link to tonight's Insight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-Aa8cmDgd0 Are details of future streamed insights available on the ROH's website other than applying the "online only" filter to tickets/events?
  14. For some strange reason, the start of booking for Friends+ today had rather passed me by so it was a good job I happened to look at the Forum this morning! Booked for 1st and 16th March - I hope I get a bonus this year to pay for them (!)
  15. As I’m on holiday this week I have watched some of World Ballet Day on my phone but as that has done my eyes no good at all I will leave it until I am back home. However the R&J rehearsal looked fantastic from what I could see - very tempted to book and see Bracewell and Kaneko a second time. Hope those going on Saturday enjoy them as much as I did.
  16. The chap sitting next to me on Saturday put his on, so that's one person! I was in the GT on Saturday and mask wearing seemed pretty good.
  17. Some rather wonderful photos of Bracewell and Kaneko from the ROH's Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72157720031365270
  18. What marvellous performances this afternoon from William Bracewell and Fumi Kaneko. Rather an early start but London at 10am was rather lovely with the sun shining through the mist.
  19. Apologies if I am missing your point but if you save the link in your comment as a bookmark that will take you there every time. For some reason the newer cast sheets aren't in pdf format anymore. However if you print to pdf you can save them as pdf documents for future reference/printing.
  20. A five-star review in the Telegraph from Mark Monahan: (behind paywall) https://www.telegraph.co.uk/dance/what-to-see/romeo-juliet-royal-ballet-review-sexy-stirring-nail-biter-evening/
  21. In anticipation of the Royal Ballet's Autumn season which starts on Tuesday 5th October, here are some rehearsal photos to whet your appetite! William Bracewell and Fumi Kaneko certainly seem to make a lovely pairing - which is good as I am seeing them on the 9th! https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72157719943466395
  22. It's a shame - I'm also booked for that performance (I don't live in London but not too far). I do hope that most of the remaining seats sell in time. I suppose there is almost a fortnight to go, so fingers crossed.
  23. Lord Gowrie in the 1980s perhaps? Obviously pre-culture department.
