  1. Excuse me but there is an embarrasing mistake in the press release: Nacho Duato was AD at the Berlin State Ballet from 2014-2018. It sounds better than where he is now (😁) but it's a huge mistake.
  2. @Emeralds you got the answer already 😉. From "Tanz" magazine: Breaking news from Vienna: the new director of Vienna Staatsballett is Alessandra Ferri. The internationally renowned ballerina who has created so many roles in the classical as well as in the contemporary field will take the responsibility in 2025 when the choreographer Martin Schlaepfer is leaving – his own decision. A surprise as it´s the first directorship for Ferri. But her profile is excellent in every way. Congrats! BTW she won the position against 39 competitors.
  3. Wow, how exciting!! She first cstched my eyes as a student at APG Monaco, when she danced at the APG gala 2018, alongside Shale Wagman a choreography by Franceso Nappa, “Les Amants voliés” What a PDD!!!! Congratulations Mackenzie Brown!!💐
  4. Thanks Fiona, I wasn't aware of this. However, the "old institutions" , e.g. Mariinsky, seem to focus on the classical ballet only. I hope the younger generation of audience demands also modern pieces, and I bet the dancers would love to widen their horizon 😉
  5. I'm just glad that classical ballets, music, or Opera etc have survived all political hassle over the years. It's the quality of the old masters which survives everything. Also, the Mariinsky and the Bolshoi have seen and survived many dictators, upheavals, cold war etc, so I'm optimistic their quality survives these dark times as well (but they should be more open to more contemporary dance, imo). I would love to attend a Mariinsky performance again as soon as possible.
  6. Since I live in Berlin, I cannot attended the in-person Events but I booked the event with Lauretta Summerscales, which is also available via Zoom. Thank you!🙏
  7. To answer the question: Yes, often. And I love it when the artists ask me if I want a selfie.😀
  8. I saw the stage rehearsal with Weronica, and there was lots of work on details. I'm sure she will dive more into the role. Polina's artistry is something else though. I will watch the livestream and decide then if I go and see it live. I admit the music is a bit...umm...challenging for my ears.
  9. Which is indeed a World premiere re live streaming from Berlin!! So happy. I've been to an extended stage rehearsal so I'm looking forward to see how it all comes together.
  10. From Steven McRae's Instagram account. It sounds very serious. I'm so very sorry.
  11. I would agree that it works perfectly dramatically, IF I would notice a sign of exhaustion, last breath, close to breaking point but not giving in etc...but in the video above it's so perfect that it does look like sport. I think I've seen only Baryshnikov (in a video I can't find anymore) expressing this kind of exhaustion. It makes the situation Albrecht is in much more "realistic".
  12. Weird. Just saw on Iana's IG that they rehearse for tomorrow's matinee. 🤔 Will check it out.
  13. Thank you Fiona, but I think it's not the actual ballet?
  14. This seems to be a 2 days Gala, 4.-5. November
  15. I forgot to mention that I LOVE the rewards you get for 1000 USD, that is amazing!!
  16. What a beautiful report, thank you @Bruce Wall!! I felt I strolled with you through the theatre. (Many names are foreign to me but I'm happy to say that I saw Robbie Fairchild as "An American in Paris", in New York.) I'm sure this was a once in a lifetime meeting of all the previous B dancers!!
  17. According to the Mikhailovsky Instagram Account, Prisca Zeisel will make her debut as Gamzatti there on Sep 27. https://instagram.com/mikhailovskytheatre?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ==
