    With "mistake" I actually meant that she did not check with the Munich management before the event. It's cheating and an employer hardly accepts such behaviour. I don't think she was so naive to think they would not find out, or that she went there "in private", not representing BSB but who knows and of course she did represent her company. A discussion with mgmt before her trip to Sevastopol MAY have changed her mind. Also, I don't know if mgmt ever told the dancers that they are not allowed to perform in Russia. Maybe they relied too much on good judgment/common sense of each dancer. So many MAYBE...and I cannot imagine that she supports the war. That's a very wild and harsh speculation.

    We do not know the details, but I stick to my opininion that a word of "thank you" would have been neccessary and decent. She made a huge mistake, but this does not diminish her artistic merits and joy she brought to the audience. The rift must be big, probably because of her silence about the planned performance.

    I see your point but there is actually not a problem for Ukrainians to travel to Russia. My colleague did this summer, together with his Russian wife and 2 small children (we tried to talk them out of it but no success). They returned safely to Berlin.

    What about an honest "we strongly disagree with her decision to perform in Sevastopol but thank her for her commitment to Bayerisches Staatsballett for xx years". Nobody is hurt this way.

    A recent decision and remark of Berlin's Senator for Culture Joe Chialo made me scratch my head. He decided he would not attend the upcoming Macbeth performances in Berlin, with Anna Netrebko. But he also said that the Arts are free, so it's up to the theatres to make their own decisions. I know it's not that simple but I like this refreshing and to-be-discussed point of view.

    I am appalled that they didn't have the class to thank her for her years with Bayerisches Staatsballett and to wish her all the best for the future. It's a bit "low".

    I'm so sorry!! The arts are always the first thing that comes to mind of authorities when money needs to be cut...I hope BRB is strong enough to survive!! I hope the funds for this year/season are safe at least.🙏

    (I'm not related to this platform but...😀) I would encourage those who haven't checked out Instagram to give it a try. Social media are not "evil" per se, it's how you use them and how you set the limits. E.g. you can setup an account but can opt for a setting called "private" which would be a good choice for a start, in my opinion. I use it daily and like to get daily info about dancers and musicians and their upcoming performances/concerts. It serves me well.

    When I've never seen a dancer live before, I am rather curious about their actual skills onstage than judging from an Instagram post, to be honest. Sometimes, I have been disappointed after high expectations, sometimes I was surprised how much better they were onstage. Also, I'm grateful for the content dancers share, because I cannot check out everyone in person 🙂. When it comes to self-advertising I am biased...it can be annoying (especially when it's too much and produces rather "nice poses" than dance clips). But of course, there isn't really advertising for dancers in public, compared to sports for example.🥺 So I'd say: go for it.

    Here is the link to all explanation regarding ticket booking: https://www.staatsoper.de/en/ticket-info When you chosen to order online on the first day and hour when it is possible (for example May 23, 10am), there is often a "queue". You can see your number and then the countdown. When you are finally first "in line" (number 1), then you can pick the performance and date, and then you will be directed to the seat map. After your first order, you can continue to book the next performance, because you are already "inside the booking system". I hope my explanation helps. I have ordered tickets this way in the past, it works. But it takes patience. I don't it anymore because I want to know the cast, and casting is out 2 weeks before performance only, or even later.     Ah Lin Zhang, I'm glad she stays. Her "Giselle" at Prix de Lausanne was so beautiful. Hope for more opportunities for her.

    Well, it seems not unusual for dancers coming from Russia to join on a lower rank. Yago Gonzaga joined as Soloist (in Germany: Demi Soloist) and was a former principal dancer in Perm. Certainly Laurent Hilaire has to balance between money (available for certain rank) and technical/artistic skills. The Level in Munich (I love your "Münich" @FionaE 😃) is quite high.

    I'm so sorry for Emilio,his Interview sounds as if his mood is quite good but retiring due to an injury must be so sad. Well, life of a dancer... I will always remember his strong "Tybalt" and his elegance in Dawson's "Affairs of the heart".
