  1. Daniil Simkin and Elisa Carillo Cabrera from Berlin State Ballet - yay! not sure why the list says Jerome Kaplan, Berlin State Secretariat๐Ÿ˜€
  2. It is confusing but I look forward to this evening as well and am very curious about the event. @LinMM And you know we both agree on Shale Wagman. If you were able to spot him under this heavy makeup, this is also proof that your vote is solid.๐Ÿ˜‰ as is mine. He performed Monday and Tuesday and is on stage again tonight. Can't wait for his video and FINALLY seeing him live๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช
  3. I am just glad that even long time experts and native speakers have a hard time understanding the process.๐Ÿ˜€ It seems it is an additional burden to highlight this competition and recognition for the rising ENB stars. I mean look on the ENB website and try to find the event without knowing anything about it. Good luck. Also, the 1 min promo video they released recently cannot be found there, just an even shorter "header" clip. Plus, the individual videos for each finalist are not published yet but voting ends on Saturday. That's all a bit weird, but maybe the marketing for the current shows plus the upcoming move to the new place take their tolls already. Edit: Ehm OK the finalists have nothing to do with the audience award and the voting. Got it just now.๐Ÿ˜
  4. Reminder: online voting ends on Saturday April 13... https://www.ballet.org.uk/production/emerging-dancer-2019/ Please vote for...๐Ÿ˜€โค
  5. So nice to know that you were able to come to Berlin for this wonderful ballet @Don Q Fan I saw M. Kaniskin and his wife Elisa Carillo Cabrera as Onegin and Tatjana and was blown away, especially in the last act. It was very moving, and at the end, when Tatjana stands alone on the empty stage - it was heartbreaking. Marian Walter and K. Ovsyanick both posted how much they loved to dance this and were very grateful for Cranko's wonderful work. Marian Walter even wrote is was "life changing" for him.
  6. From ENB's Facebook page, this is for Friday April 5: "Tune in from 3pm BST as rehearsals of Annabelle Lopez Ochoaโ€™s Broken Wings are live streamed for BBC Artsโ€™ #DancePassion! This colourful ballet, based on the life and art of Frida Kahlo, is being performed until 13 April at Sadlerโ€™s Wells as part of our triple bill She Persisted."
  7. I am happy to read about Daniil Simkin and Maria Kotchetkova, dancing a piece from "La Sylphide". I had the pleasure of joining a stage rehearsal some weeks ago here in Berlin, and even then Daniil showed off with his wicked humor alongside Maria (shortly after, he got injured and wasn't able to dance the premiere as he had been scheduled for). I would love to see him in a contemporary role, what I saw on YouTube makes me so curious. Well, I hope the new ballet directors will come up with ideas. Also, so nice to see your appreciation for Shale although he wasn't even dancing๐Ÿ˜€. Special guy.๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. Happy to see this. He seems to love Stuttgart very much, of course they have a fine school and a fine company of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰
  9. Xander Parish danced with Lauren Cuthbertson at the closing gala of the Marijnski Ballet Festival. I got this information from his Instagram account. Maybe it was not wise to put the Coliseum event on the same date as the Marijnski festival. Who knows who came up first with the date March 31st? As for the dinner (at Waldorf Hilton London): I am all for spoiling dancers, who work so hard and sacrifice a lot for our (yes, and their) pleasure. โค
  10. If you opt for Empire State Building, I recommend the fast lane ticket and a visit for sunset...but of course weather can change rapidly so it might be cloudy when you arrive on top. It is a building worth a visit not only for the view (and you can go outside for a circle on the platform, which is not possible on the One World tower, it felt nauseating standing behind the long windows for me ). Also, I recommend a look inside Grand Central Station...it's actually a town in the city, fantastic food court, shops and just a beautiful renovated old interior.
  11. I can accept this for a casting sheet but I was more referring to the ENB website and the listing of the dancers. I understand that "artist of the company" is the lowest rank, it still sounds odd for me. Not all of those have joined just recently and are still dancing like a freshman. And even then...they ARE dancers.
  12. When I first read this on the ENB website I was wondering: aren't they all artists of the company? It almost sounds to me as if they are not yet considered as fully professional dancers. But maybe this is just me, having difficulties with translation as a German. But why is it not member of the "corps de ballet"?
  13. Happy to let you know that Daniil Simkin will be back on stage, dancing James alongside Maria Kotchetkova this Friday (March 22nd). So unless he has superhealing powers, that was hardly a broken rib (it was an official letter I got btw...). anyways, happy that he is back. Loved Anderson's "Sylphide" very much!
  14. Or, what about changing it to "Respect dancers!" โค
  15. Staatsballett just announced a change in cast for the premiere March 1st: "The cast of the premiere of La Sylphide on Friday, March 1, 7.30 pm, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, has changed: Daniil Simkin, who was supposed to dance the role of James, has broken a rib. Unfortunately he canโ€™t dance in the opening night. In his place Marian Walter will now take over the role of James. The cast of the Sylphide with Maria Kochetkova will remain." So sorry, I hope Daniil Simkin recovers quickly. On Monday, he was so wonderful and full of wicked humor at the stage rehearsal.
  16. I will be at the rehearsal today and have a ticket for March1st. Kotchetkova and Simkin...can't wait.
  17. I agree @Coated , the staging of Julia's death scene was very moving. @squadron I cannot remember if the Romeo and Julia death scenes were too long as well, which says a lot...I think it didn't disturb me because it was better done (shorter?) and lacked funny moments of course. What will always go straight to my heart is the music. A masterpiece of its own.
  18. I cannot edit my own post so...autocorrection sucked again...of course I meant APG not APT.๐Ÿ˜€
