I guess I asked this question because I know of a dancer with a very good ballet facility. Unfortunately I don't think she is at the level she should be for her age. Would this dancer, based on pictures alone, be accepted to the highest level of this SS?

Did this application consist of only pictures or did the application form ask pertinent questions such as training, length of training, etc.? I'm just wondering how they will decide based on pictures alone!

I think that is what makes the Prix a different competition. They claim to judge a dancer based on the potential to make it as a professional.

Anyone have any insight as to how it is going this year? I hear they made their cuts and the variations round is tomorrow.

More news from St Petersburg: DS in Nutcracker at the Mariinsky

Congratulations! So very exciting! -
Invisiblecircus: When my dd participated, she commented on the same thing. She didn't understand why girls were wearing leo that were specifically against the dress code. They didn't ever say anything but i can't attest to whether that docked them on points or not. I think it's just a matter of some dancers not reading the "fine print."

Adhonay Soares da Silva was just promoted from Corps to Soloist at Stuttgart Ballet after his premiere of Basilio in Don Q. I hear it is well deserved and he will be dancing this role again this Saturday. -

Came across this great article/interview with Tadeusz Matacz of John Cranko Schule. Wasn't sure if I should post it here or under a different thread. I enjoyed reading it.http://www.ilona-landgraf.com/2016/09/a-conversation-with-tadeusz-matacz/

Sergei Polunin film Dancer

Saw this film Saturday afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it shows Sergei in a light completely opposite to his "bad boy" image. Hope you all enjoy it!- 66 replies

I was thinking just the other day that I needed to write a short article explaining what full-time ballet training entails and where it leads. My dd is at vocational school overseas and I had a friend ask me, "so will she teach ballet when she's done with school?" Really? Do they really think I've lost my senses, that I would send my young teen to school overseas so she can train to teach ballet as her first option? My comment is in no way to disparage teaching ballet as a career. I just don't think I would need to send my daughter away to train for that.

Angela, if given the choice to dance with Stuttgart Ballet or Munich, which would you choose? -
Forgive me for intruding on this thread, however I am wondering why it would be so difficult to find a job outside of the UK with Brexit. My dd is from the U.S. and we know many dancers who have gone on to find employment in the EU. Is it easier for one with a U.S. passport? Are there more restrictions for someone from the UK to travel about? I know that it is extremely difficult to get a visa to work in the England, but does it work the other way too? Sorry for my naivety. I would love to be enlightened on this subject matter. Thanks!

I believe there is information on their FB page about the competition. They mentioned who was there and how many contracts were given out. My dd had a few friends attend the audition. One girl got to the round where she was able to perform a classical variation. She didn't get any contracts but thought it was a good opportunity. A girl from her school received four offers.

There is a video of Maria Clara Coelho doing I think 15 pirouettes. You can search on Facebook or Instagram. Sorry, I don't know how to link it.
