  1. London Senior and Junior ballet is amazing and brilliant for technique with small classes. My DS went there along side RBS JA's and Ballet Boost and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is still there now and has been offered a year 10 place at white lodge so highly recommend. May is their big intake so have a better chance of getting in then rather than September
  2. What if you have to give notice at your present school before the beginning of term. End of April will be too late!
  3. my DS did wL finals in 2018 and we were given 10 days notice of finals......
  4. All places at Wl will have been given out by the intensive
  5. Don't over think it and carry on with your applications. They didn't see your DC dance - it is all photos and they probably closed their eyes and pointed! My DC got a place and has been lucky enough to go to a few over the years but it has absolutely no baring whatsoever on whether they will get a WL or MA place. The year my DC was applying for the school there were a few who didn't get spring or summer but went on to get a place at WL. Honestly year 6 is the most stressful year for both parents and children - it should have a health warning!
  6. Of course there is no issue. It wouldn’t be happening if there was. I wish people would stop looking at ways to derail this course. It’s happening, the teachers are amazing and the dc going are going to have a brilliant time.
  7. Of for goodness sake this is getting silly now! It happens in every private school both academic and vocational. It is very transparent - always has been - this is no new revelation and like I have said before - this is a course that is taught by Didy Veldman and Emma Northmore - they are the main teachers - give them a break!
  8. The course is for vocational students. I know nothing about the ballet but as my dc is a vocational student I am aware how the vocational schools are run so understand “the ramifications of the ballet world” rbs is the most risk adverse place ever and The way they deal with their school and associate program illustrates this so if they are happy to have the course there they must have passed rigorous standards. Also the student will probably be on an exeat and if not I doubt they will come in contact at all as the campus is big. I understand why people might not want to go in the current climate but I don’t think there is an issue about its location or teachers. I think I will bow out now but let me say again I have no connection with DanceEnhance or white lodge!
  9. But it’s not associated - no where does it say it’s associated - Christopher Powney already teaches at other places and he is a patron of it taking one class - only one - for a programme that has many different days. Sorry I don’t see it your way but that is the beauty of this forum so lots of people can put their opinions forward. If I sent my DC I don’t remotely see it as a way to the royal ballet school but maybe I’m in the minority!
  10. Nama Nama - I think you are missing the point. Its a great opportunity but is not affiliated with Royal. Christopher Powney teaches classes abroad (most recently southland ballet in California for a summer course). And whether they use the studios or not doesn't mean anything as Rambert school etc rent out their studios as well. I am not attached to DanceEnhance in any way but I think this is a fabulous opportunity. This is so much more than Christopher Powney teaching the occasional ballet lesson! Look at the credentials of Didy Veldman and Emme Northmore - lucky dancers
  11. Yes there is one going to be done by José Martin and Kerry Birkett in Hertfordshire observing covid guidelines so number are limited. Juniors are 12-14 and seniors 15 +. The company is called raw talent and think it is advertised on Instagram under rawt_alent. 3 days each course
  12. highly recommend Nicola as an inspiring and incredibly patient ballet teacher. My DC went to her summer intensives last year and improved so much. - would recommend any course involving her
  13. There are MA boys in Birmingham
  14. For the boys audition in London they had Mr Annear and two WL teachers who taught the boys at the school. The class was taught by the MA boys teacher so on that day they couldn’t do any better!
  15. yes my DS will be at white lodge too but is a couple of years older than your son so will be a different week although can't remember the date - all I know is it is week 2 because I looked back through my emails.
  16. don't worry I have called the intensive team - we got the same email as you - hopefully they will call back - but it is a yes. congratulations!
  17. Has anyone heard anything about the Bolshoi Ballet Academy summer intensive in New York and Connecticut and know anything about the standard etc? Thanks
  18. It is a great associate scheme and they really focus on technique. My DS went there and in his LJB class 2 girls and 2 boys got into Wl
  19. First thing I wanted to say is that I am only writing this as the mother of a DC that attended the course. We went after reading what was said about the course here. - but it definitely deserves a review. My DC went for a week and the change after a week working with all the guest teachers and Nicola was amazing. My DC already had spent a year at vocational school but what they learnt in that one week was more than they had learnt in the previous year. Nicola picked out what issues that they had in the first morning and a different dancing child came back a week later. This course was a game changer for my child and they will quite happily say that it was the best intensive that they have ever been on and they have been on lots the last three summers. Coniger xx
  20. There are other opportunities through Ja’s - marinsky at ROH and Sergei Polunin at the Paladium 😄. Just enjoy it
