  1. this has been very interesting to read so thank you!
  2. I feel a bit ridiculous asking about this when everyone is so knowledgeable and further down the line from us!!!! My 8 year old DS is starting LJB associates on the 20th which he is very excited about. His teacher has also mentioned he should sign up for the RBS associate experience day. Does anyone know what it involves? Also I just had to say yes that I had asked my son's teacher to apply for LJB but for RBS experience I practically had to write down the inside leg measurement of his teachers (numbers, email, address etc) Why do they ask for so much information? Ok now I sound very "new" so sorry about the basic questions! Coniger
  3. we didn't have to show anything either
  4. Heidi Rhodes in Windsor is really good.
  5. Update! Thank you for all the info. He did his presentation, showed a video of one of his festival dancers and then got on a table and showed them the positions from first to fifth. He said everyone liked it and he got a school commendation for his efforts! His presentation focused on how strong boys have to be to do ballet and how it helped other sports. thank you everyone! Con
  6. thanks to everyone who helped. We gathered everyones suggestions together including video and he went off to school very happy! He had great fun last night learning how to pronounce Baryshnikov and Sergei Polunin (sp) amongst others!
  7. Hi Lottie, It's tomorrow for the presentation! Fingers crossed Con
  8. This is brilliant - he's going to be really excited when I show these to him! Thank you!
  9. my DS is doing a presentation on "Boys and Ballet" to his class at school on thursday. He goes to an all boy school so he is understandably a bit nervous combined with the fact he is only 8 So I was wondering if anyone knew any cool facts about male ballet dancers that he could add to his presentation? Please help as I'm a hopeless source of ballet information for him!!! thanks Con
  10. my DS successfully auditioned for London Junior Ballet. In the paperwork that has followed he has a compulsory ballet lesson for 2 hours and then a 45 minute break and then repertoire starting in September. The repertoire class is optional but I was wondering if anyone knows if everyone does the class? As he is only 8 I was wondering if it was frowned open to start with the lesson and then follow with the repertoire class in the spring term. sorry if this doesn't make sense - I'm confusing myself! Thanks Con
  11. Hi Petal Violet, MY DS was there yesterday. He was in the 1pm group. He got a yes email. I wanted to write though as he tried last september and got a very quick no (felt like almost before we left the building!!!) In the last 8 months he has worked incredibly hard and tried again yesterday and he was accepted! It might be worth trying again in September. PS MY DS's photos this time were DREADFUL so I don't think the photos came into it
  12. what about Heidi Rhodes School of dancing in Windsor. Amazing place and there is no chatting in class!
  13. Thanks for your comments. He is very young but loves dancing! He is back happily at class. Thanks for explaining it all to me - much appreciated!
  14. I wanted to know whether you very kind people can help me understand what happened at my DS's audition first thing to say is that he is only 7 and we went to the audition on recommendation of his teacher who has a few children with the LJB as well as RB Junior associates and a couple at WL. I trust her opinion 100% Anyway he went to the audition and didn't get in. Totally fine with that as he is so little and inexperienced. what I don't understand is why 11 year olds were in the audition class with my 7 year old when they had been dancing years longer than he had. There is no way he knows as much as they do and he cried when he came out of the audition as he said he didn't know half the things. Maybe 7 is too young to audition but he wanted to have a go. I guess my question is - are they all lumped together despite their ages and experience in all JA auditions? thanks Coniger
  15. thanks Chaperone and spannerandpony!
  16. My 7yr old (just 7)DS's ballet teacher has recommended that he audition for this in September. I am totally new to this type of thing and wonder if anyone has any feedback on the audition process and London Junior ballet itself? We don't live in London so if by some miracle he is offered a place it will be a huge undertaking for the whole family. Thanks in advance Coniger
