  1. Oh Katymac, I'm thrilled for your DD (and you!) - I bet you are walking on air. Fingers crossed for the DADA - keep up the posts - I love reading the next instalments!
  2. After the waistband comes the gusset - peeping out the top of the leg! Another pet hate (and reason for rejection!) by DD
  3. So does mine - she says the elastic folds and cuts in!
  4. Hi Cornishprincess, DD wears a 3A in class uniform, a small ladies in Wear Moi and a T1 in Degas. There is very little difference between a T0 and a T1 when I lay one on top of the other - except in length which is marginal. She is a petite size 6 in "normal" clothes if that helps! Sheila at Just Ballet is incredibly helpful
  5. I wash "special" ones by hand in cold water and the colour bleeds every time even after washing 10+ times. - black are the worst; water looks like DD has been rolling around the floor in it! Cotton uniform ones get thrown in the machine.
  6. Hi mum in a spin. Dd done both ..... They were asked for a pliƩ to the front - holding the stretch whilst filming individually. Arabesque (held) both sides Tendus both sides Right, Left and box splits Sat on floor, legs parallel, bend head over shins - I'm doing it while I type (!) Lie on back (arms in second) feet drawn up in frog. Lie on front arms under shoulders and push up extending arms fully, keeping hips on floor, tipping back to look at ceiling. The touch toes on head. At central - as above mainly plus box splits and "best leg splits" extend forwards over legs Sit up as if crossing legs but not crossed. Bring feet into body. At central they checked their spine by kneeling on floor back straight then roll head and spine forward to floor then back up slowly. She thinks that was all .....
  7. No BTUK auditions have been postponed due to work at their new studios. Auditions are now 23 March or 6 April. No news on their accreditation yet either . Will let you know when we hear anything. Thank you Swanprincess for the very kind offer - DD has a "steep learning curve" but we also habve time on our side. We did cook pasta together last night but if I said her catering teacher recommended she took woodwork you may understand where I'm coming from!!!!
  8. It may seem a bit early to some, but I know we are going to need all the time we have to prepare DD for leaving home to start college in September! Cooking lessons start tonight based on the fact she burnt tinned soup last week - in fairness she didn't burn it on purpose .... She forgot she had put it on the hob and walked off to check her facebook! Washing and sewing pointe shoes etc will have to wait - I can only handle one thing at a time and her survival seems top of the priority list! I know I have "made my bed" as it is too easy just to get on with it myself than deal with consequences of her trying! Just wondered if any experienced mums had any top tips ..... Or a magic wand!!!
  9. It can be done though - so don't be put off from trying. You will never know - you may have the face/arms/feet/attitude/musicality that fits the particular mould for a given school.
  10. Re Tring audition - Would it be "wrong" to do a contemporary modern or would those with previous experience recommend sticking to classical?
  11. Good Luck! Off to bed for an early start!! Followed by Christmas shopping after audition .... I must be mad!!!
  12. yes for the 11am audition. Will you be there then?
  13. Morning for "us" too! See you there cornishprincess! My DD will be the one with her hair in a bun ..... Oh wait ......!!!
  14. We received an e-mail saying they have received the application and will be in touch with details.
  15. hi cornishprincess - it's not even if you get offered more than one - it's holding what is a fantastic offer and one that DD is over the moon with whilst she completes the rest of the auditions .... Each place offers something unique - weighing up the pro and cons of each is the difficult bit ....... anyone got a spare crystal ball I could borrow?!!!!
  16. Please, lovely people, I need your experience and advice! If you are offered a place how long can you "mull it over" ? If you still have auditions to go to what is the accepted practice .....? ALL advice GRATEFULLY received as head is a bit fuzzy with which way to turn! Thank you
  17. And "Yes" here too - following a no 2 years ago so worth trying again if not successful this time
  18. Just realised your the lady who has lots of auditions coming up - have you got time to make a cake too?!! We've only done one audition so far but I'm looking forward to the weekend to recover ready for the next one!
  19. Asda do a tube of ballet themed sugar craft decoration to include shoes and tutus. I have also have a photo of a fantastic cake like a tutu skirt but can't find a way of adding it to this thread ...... Anyone able to offer advice?!!
  20. Well that's the first audition done - As a life experience it wasn't that bad really!!! Ready for the next one now!
  21. We have an unspoken policy of 50% too. I do add on cost of any accessories or props I have that go with dance.
