  1. Well done piccolo! Great news, what yr will your dd be in and which centre?
  2. I can let you know if we decide to go
  3. Thanks threeleftfeet, are you able to elaborate on that or pm me?
  4. Has anyone taken part in the moving north competition so far or seen it, just wondering what it was like? Thanks
  5. I agree dancing days, the competition and talent is fierce, was it the ballet section for your dd? And very well done!
  6. how did you find the sizes of the sections at the finals waitingmum? did you find at the regionals all first 3 places were given honours? I heard some sections where first didn't even qualify which must be tough.
  7. Oh dear, I thought you could only enter your own region? Glad it didn't put her off and well done, have you been to the finals before?
  8. Oh dear waitingmum, we found all England team and parents, children to be very supportive, was this in London?
  9. Yes we will definitely see all schools, it's good to hear Hammond has such a good focus on ballet too, I think the initial concern with Hammond was perhaps due to looking at what happens at the audition and seeing it said a vocal solo audition too! Thanks everyone, all your advice is so helpful and I'm sure to many others too!
  10. Thank you, so it seems maybe years 7 and 8 do drama and singing, I'm guessing that's one lesson a week and not per day? Lol? What happens to those children that really can't sing?! Do your dds enjoy their time there and especially the ballet in the lower years and how would they rate its difficulty perhaps compared to what they did at their own dance school when the focus is more on exams eg rad / itda /batd etc?
  11. Hi can I ask about the dance course at tring to those that have experience of it , do children have to do drama, singing too? how is it split in terms of dance eg classical / contemporary etc? I think having looked at Hammond that may not focus enough on ballet, thanks
  12. Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to reply, so kind! I will sit down later, with a cup of tea and my pen and paper and read each and every reply properly! And when we eventually decide I will let you know, thanks x
  13. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences- I think dd would be happy to focus more on ballet than schoolwork but we feel dd needs to get an all round education as we know what is capable of. Is elmhurst and tring etc like white lodge where you can get assessed out each year? Can anyone tell me how most days are structured in terms of dance and learning and the hours spent? What happens each weekend too- do they have to remain at the school? Thank you!
  14. Thank you both very much for your advice, I feel for dd her choice would be rbs but we have to be realistic!! I really don't know how difficult it would be to get into any of these schools half way through lower school. I don't really just want to apply for all for the sake of it or is that the done thing? any further advice from anyone would be lovely especially if you have children at any, thank you!
  15. I too am starting to think about next year for my dd - (even though we are not sure if dd would be better to wait till year 11!) there are lots of pages already about auditions at different schools but I was wondering about people's experiences at these schools that are current? My dd is very academic also and I guess I'm wondering whether there is much difference between the obvious schools available, do any focus more on dance than academics, any more on classical ballet than others? Anyone who has recently trawled around these schools I would greatly appreciate any advice, many thanks (dd would not be starting as a year 7)
  16. Thanks vonrothbart. I'm guessing it's at the same place as the audition? My dd is looking forward to it although I think a bit nervous- I'm sure there will be a few new starters so hopefully she won't be the only one feeling as she is:)
  17. Can anyone at Manchester ma provide start and end times of sat lesson please? Thanks
  18. Do you do any exams whilst on the cat scheme? Thanks
  19. Thanks for that, guess all places gone now- always next year !
  20. It's a difficult time for them without a doubt and as long as we teach children to be respectful of one other and appreciate we all come in different shapes and sizes. All we can do is support them during these difficult times and listen to their worries, my dd is nearly 12 and tiny, 4ft 6- her friends tower over her and she's desperate to grow, we keep telling her the time will come and to be content with how she is now. Growing up is so hard!
  21. Just wondering if anyone from the priority wait list has had any more news about the summer school and been offered a place- I wonder when payment has to be made and that then may lead to any places being offered?
  22. I'm sure by next year a lot of the year 8 girls will have grown and hopefully your dd will feel more confident!
  23. Where did you go for the royal ballet audition, some of the children were small but then I thought some were also quite tall. It's a hard time for them, anxious if they grow, anxious if they don't!
