Was I the only one to get a DNS message when trying to access the forum today?

I know, but I'd hardly call midnight middle of the night (despite its name!). I mean, 1.30 to 3 AM would probably make more sense.

Definitely too many stabbings for me right at the moment In retrospect, I think I should have left at the interval. BTW, can someone please tell me where ENB are currently hiding their cast sheets? It used to be the blog, I believe, but I searched for "blog" on their website and nothing came up. Spent 20 minutes searching anywhere which seemed suitable, but managed to get nothing more than the leading half-dozen dancers, which I already knew anyway. Surely if they can put up two pieces of paper showing QR codes they could equally well put up one and one cast sheet, and save patrons a lot of hassle. Seems disrespectful to the supporting dancers not to have an easy way of crediting them.

Special offer for ROH opera Lucia - 40% off
alison replied to Geoff's topic in Special Ticket Offers
Hmm, the computer's idea of "best seats" and mine obviously don't coincide - seems to be only the top couple of prices. Thanks anyway, Geoff. -
That was exactly my reaction the first time I saw it Preferably immediately afterwards, too.

Yes, I'm assuming that the casting will appear on the website probably after the Easter break. It's just a shame the timing was so unfortunate.

I have standing tickets for both performances of Swan Lake on Monday, but don't think I can stand through two performances in one day. However, I'd like to see Nunez + Muntagirov if possible. I was wondering if anyone had a spare standing ticket for the 6th and would like to swap for my Balcony D standing for the 1st? If so, please send me a PM.

I make it 5 - at least, based on Dawnstar's spreadsheet? I know it's complicated trying to switch between the two, but is it really 7? I must admit, some of the casting has been somewhat unexpected from my point of view. I had been hoping we'd finally get Muntagirov's Oberon (he was supposed to do it in the School's graduation performance, but had been injured, I believe), but had never thought of Cuthbertson for Titania. Or Richardson for Oberon, for that matter. Did Osipova do Titania in a previous season?

Royal Ballet - Swan Lake 2024

Hoping it will be as joyful on Monday, then! -
I think someone was complaining about the cost of getting to Norwich a while ago. Well, if you can travel via Greater Anglia you might be interested in their rail sale offer: https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/harefares Other routes - and operators - are of course available.

Something I only realised last night was the number of unusual steps which appear in both Different Drummer and Requiem - at some points I felt as though I was playing "step bingo" spotting them again in Requiem. Examples included various "legs in a twist" moves where dancers often seemed almost to be trying to tie their ankles in knots. Another common theme - not surprisingly - was the Christian imagery in both ballets: upside-down crucifixions, pietàs and so on, plus of course the "Christ" figure in Different Drummer and his interactions with Marie (Magdalene?). Very appropriate for Easter, of course, even if it wasn't chosen intentionally.

That's good. I reckon we probably lost 90% of the subtitles (my Italian is VERY limited!), and for those we did get, sometimes we only got the top few pixels of them, or we'd get multiple titles being flipped through very quickly, like someone desperately trying to find the right slide in a Powerpoint presentation, or occasionally we did get the proper subtitle, and as far as I could tell synchronised with what the singers were singing (which is more than I can say for their mouth movements!). It did rather detract from my appreciation of the performance.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get through all of it before it went offline again, but I enjoyed what I did see.

Royal Ballet - Swan Lake 2024
alison replied to Linnzi5's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I tend to find it easier, in such cases, to change my departure rail station to somewhere which will take me closer to my destination, but appreciate that being south of the river is probably a benefit there. -
So, there are multiple acts? Oh good, I'll at least be able to get an ice cream for once. But frankly, right at the moment I don't want to have to hear any more about stabbings

Hardly surprising, given that she's probably the company's most Ashtonian dancer, I guess. I was wondering what they were going to have to leave her out of!

I think the company has ample prospective Pucks, though - it's Oberons they are shorter of ☹️

I spotted you, Dawnstar, but you weren't looking in our direction, and I was rather hemmed in. Funny how none of the programmes (I'm including 2008 here) seem to want to deal with Different Drummer from the narrative side.
