capybara
An e-mail from The Friends has revealed that the following will be on the programme. pas de deux with Sarah Lamb and Carlos Acosta (unspecified) Diamonds pas de deux from Jewels (Balanchine) with Marianela Núñez and Thiago Soares Tchaikovsky pas de deux (Balanchine) with Natalia Osipova and Steven McRae Le Train Bleu solo (Nijinska) with Vadim Muntagirov two new works have ben created especially for the evening by Kim Brandstrup, for Laura Morera and Federico Bonelli to music by Purcell from The Fairy Queen, and Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett (perhaps the pdd above?) Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel singing Iago’s Credo from Verdi’s Otello British tenor Toby Spence performing Lensky’s beautiful pre-duel aria from Eugene Onegin Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva singing Lucia’s first aria from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor; and a new commission from the children from the Royal Opera House’s Youth Opera Company. Looks rather good!
Don Q Fan
Yes I am looking forward to this although it would have made a change to see Nunez/Soares do something other than the Diamonds pdd yet again - they do this at Russian Icons! Have they no other party piece - Sleeping Beauty perhaps? A minor gripe the rest looks good.
Mummykool
It does indeed look good Capybara. Thanks for that as this had completely passed me by. Tickets safely acquired in less than five minutes...what a difference a day makes!
GTL
According to the ROH website, there is something else to look forward to: "The Royal Ballet School in its entirety will dance the Grand Défilé". Edited to inclue the link (I hope!) http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/a-gala-celebration-life-reimagined Edited February 13, 2015 by Grand Tier Left
jmhopton
I don't suppose there's any chance it will be recorded. I would love to see Steven and Natalia do the Tchaikovsky pas de deux and Vadim in Train Bleu but unfortunately work gets in the way.
SPD444
Is it just me but does no one else think the prices for these "galas" are a bit extortionate? £250 - £350 in the stalls and circa £100 up in the gods. All you get is a couple of pdd and a bit of opera. Doesn't seem much value for money. I'm a northern lad and expect a bit more for my £350.

I booked my ticket for this 25 Feb. gala online and received it by post. Amphi Right M77 £40. It is more expensive than I usually buy but not over the top. Don Q Fan
It is a fund raiser hence the premium. Ive got Amphi £80 but don't mind the premium for the opportunity to see lots of top stars and the RBS all in one go:-) Edited February 14, 2015 by Don Q Fan
