  1. Thanks Janet, yes, I've had a couple of dancers contact me about modelling. I'm quite excited about this shoot for the jewellery brand because they have given me free reign to be as creative as I like, so I just told them that it would be ballet themed and they are happy with that even though it has nothing to do with their brand. Normally I have to work to a tight brief for this type of shoot.
  2. Hi Pictures in the firelight, the photo shoot is on a trade basis. Models will receive photographs in exchange for their time. Feel free to PM me if you need more details. Thanks
  3. Hi, I'm a bit out of touch because I haven't been around Balletco for a while. I'm looking for some dancers to model for a creative ballet themed photo-shoot to showcase a jewellery brand. Proposed dates are Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th and Saturday 10th September. The shoot will take place in Hinckley. If you are interested, you can view my photography at www.breeze.pics and see the jewellery brand at www.marocjewellery.bigcartel.com You can PM me for more information or if you have any questions. Models must be 16yrs or older for insurance purposes. Thanks!
  4. Bonbon Ballette, the graduate program at Northern looks excellent. There is also one run by Elmhurst. I agree with what Tulip has said above about the limited options for dancers who don't have work. There is also the option of having a coach who works with your DD a few times a week. It can be lean on hours, but we have found it a positive experience and if you have the right teacher, there can be quite a lot of opportunities to take class with other dancers who are in between jobs.
  5. I'm grateful for the information and I shall phone the Medical centre tomorrow and ask how much it is rather than make an appointment only to find I'm locked into a large fee. The entire summer school is 300 euro, I can't believe how expensive it might be to get the medical certificate.
  6. Oh - golly! I hope it isn't £90! Thanks. DD is registered with the GP but has not been in the 2 years we've lived here because she is healthy.
  7. Thank you both so much for that information. I will have to contact the school in France. It just has a box to tick that says "Medical Certificate". No other information on what to provide. Thanks again.
  8. Hello, my daughter is applying for a summer school in France and they require a medical certificate. Has anyone done this before? Do I just make an appointment with the GP and ask for that? Is there a charge? Thanks in advance.
  9. My dd had just turned 18 and was in the Superior Pro group, which is the highest level. The levels were not strictly by age, so there were 18 year olds in the Pro level too. I don't think it really matters what level you are in, the tuition is excellent for all levels. We were allowed to watch a demonstration on the final day and they all showed some lovely work.
  10. My dd applied via video last year and was accepted. It was the best 2 weeks of her life, quite an amazing program. It is hard to get into, but who knows what criteria they are looking for. There seemed to be a good range of students from many different countries.
  11. Thanks, yes, I hope the new ones can find somewhere to share. It is a bit hard without much local knowledge of which places are safe.
  12. Hello, my daughter is beginning the audition process and I have some questions about the practical side of working with a company. She is currently auditioning in London. If she is offered a contract, I know the pay is very low and my biggest concern is how she will afford rent and how she will travel safely late at night after performances back to her flat. I have heard the tour bus delivers the dancers to a place where they can take night buses, but they still have to walk to their home at the other end. Rent looks terribly expensive, so I imagine her room won't be in a particularly nice area. Has anyone had experience with relocating for a company job, or helped their child locate? Thanks
  13. Hi Minn, welcome to the forum - we moved her from Australia last July. I can't really help with your questions, because my dd is 18 and we live in a different part of the country, but I just wanted to say 'hi'. Best wishes
  14. Does anyone know what is meant by the levels? Are any of these suitable for 2nd year Vocational student? Thanks
  15. So sorry to read of your Ds experience! I'm glad he has a new offer and wish you both all the best for his next adventure.
  16. I've PM'd you both - Anaballerina & Lilac
  17. Lilac - I will check with my dd when she gets home tonight - she is the one who said it is for sale. As far as I know she still has it.
  18. Hello, I have one that I'm willing to sell for £10
  19. Hmmmm - thanks for letting me know. I have redirected it to a different URL - on my www.breeze.pics website but I don't know why it is going to Prosidio - I've never heard of that. I'm not great with computers, will try to sort it out. Meanwhile, here is a direct link http://www.breeze.pics/enpointe-orthotics Thanks for telling me - I've tested it a number of times and it has always gone straight to my new page.
  20. Just a reminder that the information session at Dancique in Birmingham will be this Saturday at 4pm.
