  6. Watford Palace Theatre and Watford Vue are showing Fille on Monday 5th August. I think I am all Filled out as the Leslie Collier dvd fondly called 'Chicken Dancing' was my grand daughter's favourite when she was tiny
  7. Watford Vue are showing it on Monday and Watford Palace Theatre have it on Friday 19th.
  8. Watford Palace are showing it on Sunday 31st at 4:00 (due to the clocks changing here). Very few bookings last time I looked

  11. How sad that the lovely escapist bauble that I perceived the ballet world to be has been smashed. The Times has this news in an article today along with a beautiful clip of her dancing something I do not recognise - Gail
  12. Just back from a few days in Brighton and Dukes now have another venue above the Komedia Club in the North Laines - it is very small, less than 100 seats, and extremely comfortable. They are advertising the two Bolshoi productions, La Bayadere live on Sun 27th Jan at 3:00 pm and As live Don Q on Sun 10th Feb at 3:00 pm.
  13. I picked up my tickets from Watford Palace yesterday - they are showing the Bolshoi La Bayadere live on Sun 27th Jan at 3:00 pm and As live Don Q on Sun 10th Feb at 7:30 pm - lucky I registered the time of DQ else I would have turned up at 3:00 !!

  16. My 6 year old grand daughter saw the Bolshoi La Sylphide with no preconceptions apart from a rough idea of the story line so her observations were interesting. She loved the Bolshoi theatre and thought it was very like the ROH. The big heads walking in front of the cameras tickled her. She was fascinated with Mme Novikova switching from Russian to French to English and especially that people in France could also see the ballet. She noted that we didn't have to clap because 'they' did it for us. Lots of challenging whispered 'why' starting with the overture from the orchestra. She was relieved that Madge was not too witchy but she has the same ongoing questions as the rest of us as to the underlying connection between Madge and the sylph community.
  17. Not sure how to link to a video clip, but I came across this on Digital Spy today - looks like she is having fun http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s104/strictly-come-dancing/news/a403163/strictly-come-dancing-return-date-confirmed-watch-series-10-trailer.html
  18. For those of us of a certain age, London Colliseum usually do great senior (over 60 with ID) discounts on the day of performance - usually in the range of £15 - £30 - in person from 3 hours before. I always look at availabilty on the web and call ahead to ask if they will be doing them before travelling.
  19. Thank you John - and now I also know it is not too long. I feel a bag of Peppa Pigs will see us through the witchy scenes
  20. I bought my Sylphide and Pharoah's Daughter tickets last week. Watford Palace phoned to say that La Sylphide will be at 3:00 not 4:00 as advertised - I suppose the change of hour affects the time difference. Does anyone know if the Bolshoi version is similar to the RB - my 6 year old grand daughter will be with me so I am hoping the witches are not too scary
  21. My favourite heart wrenching moment was John Lennon's image singing 'Imagine'. I took from the words that the world should look at the young people from 204 nations who had lived together in harmony despite their diverse cultural and religious beliefs.Yesterday an analysis of the closing ceremony in the Times offered the opposite opinion and rubbished the inclusion of this piece. Vive la difference
  22. I was very impressed with the high quality of this company on their visit to Watford last Christmas (despite the tiny stage at the Watford Colliseum) and was happy to get an email today to say that they will be back this year from Dec 13th - 16th with Fille Mal Gardee and Swan Lake. Booking is open and if you are tempted to see them here I recommend rear stalls from the second row where it is nicely raked (not the front stalls or first row of the rear stalls as they are not raked.)
  23. Another offer from Travelzoo - £42 Upper circle tickets for 17.50 + fees using code TZPS
  24. Sorted Thank you kind people - Matalan in St Albans came up trumps today.
  25. Watford Palace have rescheduled Matthew Bourne's 3D Swan Lake for this Saturday, June 9th, at 7:30 - let's hope they have sorted out the water in the junction box problem as the rain doesn't look like it is going to stop any time soon
