Our very own Sim was at the press conference this morning, so I'm sure more news will be forthcoming.

Metamorphosis: Titian 2012
bangorballetboy replied to zxDaveM's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
They didn't. The first, fourth and seventh movements were the two choreographers together. They did one pas de deux and one "fast movement" (Marriott's words) each individually.- 30 replies

Cinderella's Prom outing
bangorballetboy replied to John Mallinson's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
There were a few fluffy bits where the brass and strings weren't together (mainly due to Gergiev's lack of a downbeat, I suppose) but on the whole the LSO created a luscious energetic sound. Nice to hear the bits we don't normally hear. As Alison said, the tempi were often pushed and pulled to a dancer's ear but they work for a concert performance. My internal iPlayer was run full pelt with a veritable mix and match of RB dancers past & present. Lovely picture in the programme too (Blair, Fonteyn, Helpmann, Ashton). -

Yes, RB have The Four Temperaments in their rep but I think that completes the Balanchine rep there. -

RB Period 2 Casting

Lamb's Manon with Pennefather was one of the finest I have seen. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Sarah Lamb at dinner a few years ago and she said that the role she most wanted to dance was Tatiana. -

I think the distinction between the way the RB works (all dancers on permanent contracts) and the RO (principals, other than JPYAs, retained on a show-by-show basis) has something to do with this. -
