  1. There's an article on the Royal Ballet's Beatriz Stix-Brunell here: http://www.pointemagazine.com/issues/octobernovember-2012/touch-magic And a behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot here: http://www.dancemedia.com/v/7338
  2. Thanks Bluebird. I wasn't sure, so I thought it would be useful for people to check to be on the safe side. I complained about the envelope issue and now our tickets are set out in a bigger envelope!
  3. Have you checked the confirmation? I recall a while back that box office collection was the default setting for online bookings.
  4. I understand that La Rojo mentioned that discussions regarding touring are ongoing.
  5. Our very own Sim was at the press conference this morning, so I'm sure more news will be forthcoming.
  6. Not at the Proms, he didn't. The complete ballet has not been performed at the Proms.
  7. They didn't. The first, fourth and seventh movements were the two choreographers together. They did one pas de deux and one "fast movement" (Marriott's words) each individually.
  8. There were a few fluffy bits where the brass and strings weren't together (mainly due to Gergiev's lack of a downbeat, I suppose) but on the whole the LSO created a luscious energetic sound. Nice to hear the bits we don't normally hear. As Alison said, the tempi were often pushed and pulled to a dancer's ear but they work for a concert performance. My internal iPlayer was run full pelt with a veritable mix and match of RB dancers past & present. Lovely picture in the programme too (Blair, Fonteyn, Helpmann, Ashton).
  9. This is what the Friends' email newsletter (sent on 16 August) says about the gala. Our Extraordinary World: A gala celebration We have been delighted by the response to Our Extraordinary World, with many of you writing in to apply for gala tickets. There are still a few tickets left at £500, or £1,000 and above which include the gala dinner. If you are interested in joining the artists to celebrate the performance and would like to purchase one of these tickets, or one at £500, please contact Helena Price by email: helena.price@roh.org.uk, and she will send you an application form.
  10. Perhaps something to do with the Manchester bids for 1996 & 2000?
  11. But there's nothing cultured going on after tomorrow - the place is being turned into an Olympics exhibition!
  12. Yes, RB have The Four Temperaments in their rep but I think that completes the Balanchine rep there.
  13. The use of "farewell performances" in the press release suggests that M&A will be the only performances Rojo has with the company. It's pretty obvious that this is to ensure Rojo can have a proper farewell not overshadowed by the retirement of Dame Monica Mason. Errr, no it's not.
  14. Me too. I wonder whether Siegfried had anything to do with the need for a guest...
  15. The three "ex-Rojo" Swan Lakes will be danced by Natalia Osipova. October 10, 13 (E), 25.
  16. Lamb's Manon with Pennefather was one of the finest I have seen. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Sarah Lamb at dinner a few years ago and she said that the role she most wanted to dance was Tatiana.
  17. One of my favourite menu items is a "bowel of chips" at The Muggery in Upton-upon-Severn.
  18. I think the distinction between the way the RB works (all dancers on permanent contracts) and the RO (principals, other than JPYAs, retained on a show-by-show basis) has something to do with this.
  19. In the play, she is 29. Arkadi Sergeyevich Islayev, a rich landowner, 36 Natalya Petrovna, his wife, 29 Kolya, their son, 10 Vera Aleksandrovna (Verochka), Natalya's ward, 17 Mikhail Aleksandrovich Rakitin, a family friend, 30 Aleksei Nikolayevich Belyaev, a student, Kolya's tutor, 21 Matvei, a servant, 40 Katya, a servant, 20
