  1. On the basis of the Clara castings I've upgraded one of my standing tickets to a front row ticket...
  2. Swan Lake According to the ROH website, Marquez is dancing not Takada. 3. I can finally access the site through my work computer!
  4. Nope, not just you. They have updated the website and it's taking a while for the upgrade to filter down through the ISPs (or something like that).
  5. Indeed. I though Paul kay was marvellous. Have to say I much preferred Nunez & Acosta to Jolina; I found Jolina a touch too saccharine and though Johan wasn't believable. We'll see what Saturday brings!
  6. I agree with Bluebird. All 4 couples were better at the FGR and it was, unfortunately, most noticeable in Yasmine & James. As Bluebird says, probably just nerves and I'm sure they'll be back to form tomorrow.
  7. I have a feeling (and this was suggested to me by someone else) that between Alice & Carbon Life the sustained noise level for the orchestra may have been too much (health & safety...) and the easiest way to fix that is to drop the orchestra from Carbon Life.
  8. Yes, Brian Maloney was absent - he didn't perform the bits that would have required him to wear those awful pointe boots.
  9. One of the things that I disliked about Carbon Life was the covering of faces. I was pleased to see last night that the "black condom hoods" (as someone else so eloquently called them) worn by the two men dancing the pd3 with Nela Nunez had gone. Whether this was because Brian Maloney was dancing in Eric Underwood's stead (due to illness) I don't know, but I hope it's a permanent change. And great kudos to Brian Maloney who learned his bits in 2.25 hours of rehearsal yesterday. Bravo.
  10. The link to the Arts Desk story is here: http://www.theartsdesk.com/dance/tamara-rojo-prima-ballerina-becomes-english-national-ballets-director
  11. IIRC, the proposal is that personal tax relief would only be available on gift aid donations up to the lesser of quarter of taxable earnings and £50,000. The tax relief which is passed on to the charity would not be affected, but the suggestion is that high wealth individuals will stop donating if they don't get the additional relief on large donations.
  12. Just to confirm it was also announced that Johan K would replace the absent Sergei as James on 7 June.
  13. One thing that pleased me about last night was there was no applause during either Sweet Violets or Carbon Life; both pieces the better for that.
  14. Tom Nelson has tweeted that tonight's in rehearsal will be a "first glimpse" of the Titian project and will feature Federico Bonelli. This, of course, is subject to any last minute changes.
  15. Public booking for period 1 of the 2012/13 season is mid-July.
  16. Noted. The form for period 1 (for which my booking date is next week!) says 6 for ballet so maybe they're regularising it.
  17. I don't think that's right, John. Isn't it 6 tickets per ballet production and 4 per opera (unless there's a specific restriction like for Titian, which applied to Friends at all levels)?
  18. Well, I spent about 10 minutes trying to get into the telephone queue and made it in at #41. Was all done and dusted within 30 minutes of joining the queue. I joined the waiting room at #1721 and made it to the booking system after about 90 minutes (and after I'd got through on the telephone). I was able to get better seats for the two Titian performances I booked on priority day and additional tickets day, which is rather annoying. Also means I have some reasonably good Titian tickets to get rid of.
