  1. My dd has done 4 auditions this time round and for the first 3 she didn't in front of me warm up but for WL one she did as the WL associate's were. She also said that they didn't have a warm up at the WL audition
  2. Do some of you believe that "teachers" are right all of the time? Well I am here to tell you that they are human beings who are not gods Even those with many years of experience are not always right or not always right in everyone's eyes. I am not a dancer which has already been stated. I don't always comment because of this and I am no composer of words. I came on this forum to learn. Reading about adult dancing and some ones journey is enlightening. Michelle is the only consistent writer on what she has been doing. Choosing not to read or comment is your choice and a good one but when ones words have been continually been commented about then you expect it. I did not want to start this discussion but just wanted to reply (which is polite) to those who commented on mine. Hence the picked on is my wording etc. If you would like a ballet question from me Fiz what is the correct angle for first position for the feet is it 180 or is it somewhere between that and 90 degrees? discuss
  3. Fiz I believe I was told that to write on this forum incites comment. I was just answering a comment already started . " Indulge in a playground tiff" I believe that's what you are doing I was only putting someone else straight. Yes this thread is about Adult ballet but your comment isn't
  4. I think you will find that the " picked on" statement was mine and not Michelle's. Yes Michelle can stand up for herself well done Michelle. I have previously privately messaged Michelle before with support. I think you should all reread all of the threads on here which Michelle has wrote and which some one has commented on about her, then think about everything from her perspective I still think that you pull to pieces things that Michelle writes on here and not others.
  5. I read this post to see what people are doing. I get concerned when I see Michelle getting picked on. She tells us what she has been doing not what others should be doing and she only defends what other experts have told her. I hope you all can agree that people have different bodies that can do different things and have different levels of learning. There is a man who can run forever google it. Yes ballet is difficult to master. Yes you might (I don't know) have to have muscle memory but people and muscles learn at different paces. Teenagers/ children will see and read what they want to especially on the internet or even (I have been told) in a dictionary. This is all common sense. My son had to do exercises for feet from a nhs physio which had him putting his balls of his feet on to a step and then lowering his heels. He would then have to make his heels rise so that he could lower them again to do the reps advised. My son is not athletic nor a dancer This is my opinion
  6. I am pretty sure that spatial awareness skills are not closely linked to ones IQ. My non dancing son would be a dunce if so. His awareness is awful (he can't walk through a door without touching the sides) but he has an average IQ of 106 when it was checked
  7. Is there no English or British worthy of one of these titles???????????????????
  8. my dd has the 5th November for her audition date
  9. I don't think so LinMM. There was no advice just a thank you for bringing her to the audition and that they hoped the audition was "interesting and useful". My dd has three more audition's 2 in November and 1 in January. Hopefully she is a little more successful.
  10. dd got a letter from Tring and the answer was no.
  11. When I was at school, university was not even mentioned this was 25 years ago. I don't think I would of got in any way. Four years ago I did a HE college course, and three years ago I got into uni, this year I am graduating with a 2.2 something I thought I would never get.
  12. my dd was auditioning for year 7 and was in the front with your dd by the sounds of it. I am on tender hooks waiting for the letter which should be probably Thursday but my postman is so slow it might be next week.
  13. my dd was also at the Tring audition on the 3rd Oct. Amandawhiter my daughter thinks she knows your dd. My dd was number 4
  14. I saw a GCSE dance at a prize giving evening. 1 of the dancers was very good (trained), another of the dancers was good (trained) but the rest couldn't keep up, did not know the dance at all and thought it was all a giggle. my then 9 year old dd could of done better. Yes I don't know much about dance but you could see that it was not good.
  15. My DD really enjoyed her time at Tring today. Thank you to the young man who escorted us around the school and who patiently answered all our questions. He was a credit to his parents and Tring
