  1. Sherbet, Does paying full fees make someone more or less able to hold a school accountable? In my view, holding a scholarship or MDS may well be just as important a point.
  2. Having had DD's at different schools, and non dancing DS's in yet another, very academic school, I have had experience of five different academic schools. albeit that my sons didn't need support. I get what you are saying about understanding and making adjustments. Hammond school, in my experience, has certainly been the only one who has taken time to communicate with me. They have gone out of their way to try to help, as much as they can. My DD who has 6 lessons a week was at a school where results were very much the focus. 45% of their pupils had dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning or social difficulties. At the time, it was the reason for choosing the school, so that my daughter would not feel different. However, there was non of the focus on the things she enjoys; there was no music, no opportunity to perform. I quickly realised that there are more important things in life than A* if what a child wants to do has very little to do with academics. She now has 1/2 hour one to one rather than 6 x 45 minutes class time.
  3. The Hammond school is certainly inclusive. However, one of mine had 6 classes per week on learning support at her old school and has 1/2 an hour a week now, which I pay extra for. There are only two members of staff who provide this for the whole school. They do their absolute best however.
  4. I got a couple off Ebay, similar price
  5. Primark do great seamless nude high leg knickers in a size 6 which are very small.
  6. Ok, well last least if there's one other new DD it will be nice.
  7. Is there anyone else going into year 9 Staceydor?
  8. It was expensive enough to make once! I wouldn't have liked to pay that every few years. It has a beautiful lining and the frilled trim. Vmmom, you don't need the school character skirt for Summer School. Just any. My younger DD has insisted on wearing her RAD one rather than big sister's RBS one
  9. Young Dancers Academy is a good option if you can find cheap accommodation in West London. The Summer school itself isn't overly expensive and you would get to collect DD at the end of the day and ensure she is rested (although we always tended to rush into Covent Garden and come back exhausted but you don't have to leave the area with Westfield right near.
  10. Not sure children do get a lot of sleep on most residential Summer schools
  11. He will Get him to pack his own dance bag now (and see that there are consequences). That said, I left my DD's entire bag for JA's on the train one day. Had to borrow a leotard and dance in bare feet. She never let me do that again
  12. Not sure there are many people willing to give it up..it's so beautiful!x
  13. I was going to comment on that!! The year before they all stood outside in the snow, freezing!
  14. Like Pictures said, they need them for under costumes, if they have to wear a skirt etc. The last two years they have
  15. No shorts on our list. Take care that you don't buy things from the PE list as that is for Music/Drama students only
  16. By the way hello, my DD is in year 9
  17. The black shorts are pretty much only needed for production aren't they Pictures?
  18. Is this for a dance student?
  19. Ok so what else can she do? OPES is fabulous for older dancers x
  20. Oh double trouble I am sorry to hear that. Wow that's tough. I would have thought that older dancers would have much more chance of having a part I would imagine there would be a few not taking the place. Wonder if its worth ringing to see what the likelihood is?x
  21. Thank you Drdance...it's the older one. I think it will be a brilliant opportunity to enjoy ballet again and have a go at other genres hopefully!
