Dream is certainly for sale on ROH site to stream 19th March, which I originally had marked for a Meet the Young Dancers streamed Insight event. Perhaps it has had to be reorganised? We'll see

Disagree, Alison. What ROH shows on its web streaming can be seen just about worldwide, don't think Sky Arts is. And it is the Royal Opera House/Royal Ballet specific showcase, and in HD which Freeview Sky is not.

Although I also treated myself to it on Blue ray I'll be watching the stream on Friday. I like the feeling of sharing it with others watching at the same time, plus gives the RB a bit of money.

BEWARE! dodgy looking RB Nutcracker stream
MargaretN7 replied to zxDaveM's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I did wonder if it might be someone who had made an illegal filming of one of the live performances, as there wasn't any mention of this on the Royal Opera House website or FB page, but I wasn't going to click on that link to find out, no way. -

And my email says they'll be streaming, for £3, Alice in Wonderland instead. -
Royal Ballet - The Nutcracker, 2020

😢 Me too. Especially as I wasn't allowed to travel in to central London to see one of those few live shows. Hold on to your memories, Dave. At least I'll have the Gala to rewatch on TV for my birthday. -
RB Nutcracker Winter 2020/21
MargaretN7 replied to Silke H's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Reading Lyndsey Winship's Guardian review (lovely mention for James Hay), I noticed she referred to being at the 499th RB Nutcracker performance. That means the next one, Saturday's I presume, was the 500th. Was it mentioned? Glad that they made that one. Here's to the next 500. -

Ah, but to log in you have to agree to receive emails from the Telegraph, or you did last time I looked, and I am not prepared to agree to that. I used to visit my local library regularly and look at the articles I'd made note of. -

ROYAL OPERA HOUSE LIVE PERFORMANCES AUTUMN 2020
MargaretN7 replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I wish all of you who are able to attend these performances all the best for an enjoyable evening. As I can't get to ROH, not allowed to use public transport and have sight impairment so can't drive, I'm still hoping they'll live stream, or as live, one of each of these programmes. Has anyone had any recent response to this request? -
Ah, but it wont be the same doubled up Elite as in the Gala, and there will be all the other items in the programme. I had the impression there'd be some different ones there.

Lovely. Although that's the same week, including that evening, that there are the four live performances at ROH of the Elite Syncopations etc programme. Hope this doesn't mean there wont be a live streaming of that

ROYAL OPERA HOUSE LIVE PERFORMANCES AUTUMN 2020
MargaretN7 replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Since I'm on doctors' (yes, plural) orders not to travel on public transport, and walking from the outer edge of Greater London to ROH is a bit far, I'm hoping that a performance of each will be streamed -

And the BBC News item is now as a clip on bbc.co.uk/news, and when I looked it was listed as one of the most watched. There was more in it than I saw on the 6pm News -

Upcoming DVD/Blu-ray Releases
MargaretN7 replied to charliewise's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
If you like to support The Royal Opera House with your DVD / Blu-ray buying, the Concerto Enigma Raymonda recording is now available from the ROH shop. -
I was expecting a selfie of your feet doing a little dance, perhaps steps taught to you by your favourite dancer 😀

Upcoming DVD/Blu-ray Releases
MargaretN7 replied to charliewise's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Some people don't have sufficient, or any, online access and some people prefer to avoid Amazon. Some people just like having the actual items to use at will. To stop issuing dvds/blurays would not, imo, be a good idea. (I was going to write something stronger but changed my mind) -
Sky Arts' transfer to Freeview
MargaretN7 replied to alison's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I have it on my TV OK but on my dvd recorder it has picked up Sky Arts as channel 11 but no programmes showing on the guide so can't set to record. Anyone else have this problem? There's no way I'm going to get up to watch ballet at 6am or thereabouts which is when they seem to be showing such programmes.- 35 replies

Royal Ballet joiners & leavers 2020

So pleased that Ed Watson's full retirement as a principal is held over for him to do farewell performances in the role created for him in Danté's Inferno. Something for me to look forward to.- 60 replies

Your favourite lockdown streams
MargaretN7 replied to Jeannette's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Just watched Paw de Deux, Thanks Bruce. While a cat might not feel so cooperative in dancing with a human pretending to be a cat, a self-respecting cat would undoubtedly accept being Apollo, who is, after all, a god. 😺 -
Ballet in Faust
MargaretN7 replied to loveclassics's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I have seen this production of Faust many times, and particularly remember the first one. The Royal Ballet lent them Eric Underwood for the lead dance role, and he wowed the opera audience, a superb performance. This setting of the ballet IMO works well in the context of this opera production, not to be considered as a standalone ballet interpretation of the music.
