Freedom Celebrity Gala in Cyprus
Silver Capricorn replied to FionaM's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
It's not about the Russians, let them perform where they are allowed. But there is no reason for artists from countries that publicly oppose Russian aggression to appear next to them. If they only care about the financial effect, it's sad.- 30 replies

That's right, I visited the Vienna performance and I clearly prefer Nureyev's version. However, I also fly to London for Acosta's Don Q, exclusively for the dancers, and twice for the same cast. But I'm really looking forward to Don Q in Paris in the spring, it will of course be Nureyev's version, very nice set, amazing costumes and great dancers.

Yes, I can confirm. The booking worked without any problems and I can look forward to the 3 performances of Manon in February 😍.

I will visit ROH much more often this season than last season. It is already clear that 3x DQ, 1x Dante, 1x Nutcracker, 3x Manon, plus 2x Giselle (ENB) in Coli. Definitely Swan Lake too depending on the casting. In addition, I will also visit the ONP in Paris, I consider both ensembles equal, but in Paris I can see classical ballets choreographed by Nureyev, which I prefer above all. I will go to Paris 3x for Don Q, 1x Fille, 3x Giselle including a guest appearance by Marianela Nunez and 2x Swan Lake. So I have a wonderful season ahead of me.

I have an LG smart TV and watch Internet TV. Stream ROH can be downloaded as an app from the LG Content Store and it works great. I also have the Opera Paris stream, but it has to be watched using on tv a web browser, which is less convenient.

Onegin is performed in the historic building of the National Theatre, and here, too, the best seats are on the 1st balcony. Coppelia will be performed at the State Opera.

I am from Prague and I often go to the State Opera. The seats on the 1st balcony are the best, but watch out for the discounted seats behind the columns, they have a very limited view. Personally, I always prefer the 1st row on the ground floor.

RB Winter Ballet Casting
Silver Capricorn replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Fortunately, elsewhere in Europe, the pony is not a problem yet. Last season in Vienna and Prague, Fille was played in its original form with a pony. I'll see how it goes in the spring at the Paris Opera.- 305 replies

RB Winter Ballet Casting
Silver Capricorn replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I would love to see a Fumi/Vadim pairing. In the last year, they perform almost exclusively together at all the Galas in the world, many times in Japan, in Cape Town, I had the opportunity to see them in Geneva and several times in Brno. I think their partnership works great and I really wanted to see them in ROH in a full-length ballet, which will finally happen now. I hope to be able to see the Osipova/Reece and Naghdi/Bracewell shows as well. Manon is one of my favorite ballets, so along with two absolutely amazing performances at the Paris Opera, I hope to see Manon 5 times this year 😍.- 305 replies

Royal Ballet Casting for Autumn 2023-24
Silver Capricorn replied to a topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Please, where can I find the cast for The Nutcracker? The ROH website still only lists Sugar Plum Fairy and Prince for individual performances. I am specifically concerned with the performance on January 13.- 612 replies

Paris Opéra Ballet on strike (again)
Silver Capricorn replied to Sophoife's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Those are three unrelated things. The protests against the pension reform do not concern the dancers, they have their own status, which they won with the strikes of the Opera in the pre-covid era. The current unrest is related to the death of a young man, shot by a policeman, and it is nothing more than looting by groups of underage migrants. And the current ballet strike is related to the wage demands of the dancers, who are pushing for compensation for the time spent trying on costumes, make-up, etc.- 30 replies

Paris Opéra Ballet on strike (again)
Silver Capricorn replied to Sophoife's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
No one knows that. I am extremely sorry for Dorothée Gilbert, who is now in top condition, but in 2025 she will have to end her career (at Ballet Opera Paris without exception at the age of 42) and until then Manon will certainly not be back. So far two of her Manon's performances have been cancelled and she still has 3 dates left...- 30 replies

Paris Opéra Ballet on strike (again)
Silver Capricorn replied to Sophoife's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I traveled to Paris 1000 km from Prague for Manon 20. and Signes 21. When I found out that Manon 20. was cancelled, I took a risk and bought the last 2 tickets that were available for Manon 21. And it worked! So I chose Manon over Signes and I definitely don't regret it. Both Manon and Signes were canceled today...- 30 replies

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the World Ballet Stars gala in Geneva, at the Théâtre du Léman. The concert was focused on classical ballet, which I welcomed. The dramaturgy was great, the best pas de deux was included at the end of both parts of the evening. The first of these was the bedroom pdd from Manon performed by Dorothée Gilbert and Hugo Marchand. The chemistry that works in this couple is incredible. I can't wait to see them both next week in Paris for the premiere of Manon at the Palais Garnier. The second highlight of the gala was the grand pas classique with Fumi Kaneko and Vadim Muntagirov, the absolutely technically perfect performance aroused enthusiasm in the audience. The performance of Shale Wagman in pdd Flammes de Paris was also amazing for me. His amazing jumps are out of this world. Overall, I am more than excited about this gala. And a special bonus was meeting all the dancers at the stage door and having Vadim's book signed by the author before the official signings in London.

VADIM MUNTAGIROV AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Silver Capricorn replied to Balletfanp's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
It's me, the one with the dog 😄. But his petname is Vadim, not Vadream. I also learned about the horse from a book.
