  1. Unusually, there's not a single London cinema listed. Does anybody know if there are plans to show this performance in London at a later date?
  2. There was one a few days ago for the more expensive tickets but the reduction wasn't that great - £70, £68 and £64 tickets all reduced to £52. Tickets had to be booked by today. Here's the original link: http://www.tmdeals.co.uk/cheap-mayerling-tickets?camefrom=CFC_UK_BUYAT_123227
  3. Nancy Osbaldeston (also British and also trained at ENBS) not only gained a place at the Prix de Lausanne but succeeded in getting into the final in 2008.
  4. Which 'visiting companies' have succeeded in filling the theatre? I can't, at this moment, remember any in the recent past! When the Mikhailovsky were there the management had to close the balcony on a number of occasions and BRB had a number of special offers for Aladdin but still needed to close the balcony for some performances.
  5. Sorry. In my hurry to edit this before the editing window closed, I wrote down the wrong reduction for 2 Christmas shows bought in one transaction... If you just book two Christmas shows the reduction is 15% and not 20%. Maybe an administrator could correct the posting so as not to confuse readers?
  6. There's also an offer of 15% off all prices if you book for two different productions in one transaction. There was an offer of 25% off all prices if you booked for 4 different productions in one transaction. It's obviously too late for this offer as there are now only 3 productions left to book (Tribute to Nureyev, Nutcracker and Corsaire) It's a great pity that this offer was not publicised anywhere. I only found out about it last week from a booking office clerk. I couldn't take advantage of it as I'd already booked for this season's two mixed bills. ENB really need to get their act together with these offers! EDIT IMPORTANT UPDATE I've just spoken to the Coliseum Box Office and they tell me that this offer has now changed. If you book the Nureyev programme and both of the Christmas shows, you will get 15% off the Nureyev tickets and 20% off both Christmas shows. If you book the Nureyev and ONE Christmas show, you will get 10% off the Nureyev and 15% off the Christmas show If you just book both Christmas shows you will get 15% off both of them These reductions apply to all ticket prices (i.e. even £10 tickets) The reason for the complicated reductions is that the price structure of the Christmas shows is different to the shows for this season.
  7. ENB is not the only company that offers concessionary stand-by tickets at the Coliseum. In my experience they are offered by all companies that appear there. Stand-bys are available for Students, Senior Citizens (60+), Income Support recipients…etc. The price may vary. Some companies charge £15 for all areas of the auditorium. Other companies charge much more. I don’t know the current rates but, in the past, it has been £30 or £35 for the stalls, £20 or £25 for the Dress Circle and £10 or £15 for the Upper Circle. As far as I know, this stand-by policy is only for the Coliseum performances. When they appear at Sadler's Wells they follow the policy there - i.e. I believe that the stand-by policy depends on the venue rather than the company. If anybody knows otherwise, please let us know. I've pasted in below the section on stand-bys which can be found on the ENO website. The prices apply to ENO opera performances. As I've already said, for ballet performances, they vary from company to company. "Stand-bys and concessions (£15-£35) may be available 3 hours before a performance at the management’s discretion, with the exception of disabled patrons and their carers who can book stand-bys from 10am on the day of performance by joining our Access Scheme. When available, stand-bys will only be offered to: · Senior citizens · Students · Income Support recipients · Under-16s · Westminster Rescard holders Concessions are available in advance to under-16s and members of the Access Scheme and Access All Arias scheme only. Please note, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult." edited to correct punctuation
  8. Roberta Marquez replaces Alina Cojocaru in the 12.30pm matinée of La Bayadère this coming Saturday, April 20. http://www.roh.org.uk/events/tm99d edited to add detail
  9. I have the same dancers in my mind, Janet! I also saw Laura Morera and Ivan Putrov. I've a feeling that it was Laura's debut in the role the day I saw them. The performance took place during the Royal Ballet's ROH Summer Season in 2002. Unusually that year they were performing in the ROH in late July/ early August. Laura Morera was, if I remember correctly, replacing an injured Alina Cojocaru. Edited to say I have just managed to find a ballet.co.uk review of that very performance! http://www.ballet.co.uk/magazines/yr_02/sep02/ph_rev_rb_0702.htm
  10. July 9. If you go to 'what's on' on the ROH website, and click on 'future booking days' you get all the booking days for next season. Here's what you get if you click on Public Booking for Period 1 http://www.roh.org.uk/events/booking/20130709
  11. 12. Yes, Alison. Since so many Friends were disappointed on the priority booking day, I thought it worth alerting readers to the sudden availability of tickets (however few!). They've presumably kept 20% back for public booking on 9th April so others have a chance of getting tickets then.
  13. Hansel and Gretel May 11. One £32 ticket for afternoon and two £32 tickets for evening available on ROH website as I write..... edited for accuracy
  14. I've just checked the Performance Database and it hasn't been done since 1985 (and was only performed once in that year!) http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/production.aspx?production=13022&row=1 Edited to point out that the 1985 performance can only have been an excerpt as it was the seventh item in a mixed bill.
  15. .............as were Polina Semionova and Denis Matvienko earlier in the week.
  16. Somebody else must have broken the embargo as I first read about the new production on Twitter. I googled it to make sure it was fact and not rumour and this brought up the Broadway World report.
  17. I can't find an official announcement of this but, since the following webpage contains full details of the new production, I assume they must have got them from ENB: http://dance.broadwayworld.com/article/English-National-Ballet-to-Premiere-New-LE-CORSAIRE-Production-This-Fall-20130325
  18. ...but they 'return' to Sadler's Wells regularly every October and, in recent years, have also had a Coliseum season in March or April.
  19. Mixed bill October 15 and 16. Beauty October 17-19 (the Sadler's Wells season was advertised on the back of the Coliseum castlists) Edited to add that the castsheets also provide booking information (booking opens in May) but no exact date is given.
  20. Apologies. Don't know what made me write May instead of April. Is an administrator able to correct my posting so as to avoid confusing readers? I'm, unfortunately, unable to edit at this late stage.
  21. I hope it's OK to post this information (i.e. since it hasn't been officially announced). If not, would an administrator please remove. Ben Gartside tweeted yesterday that he would be replacing Johan Kobborg as Prince Rudolf in Mayerling on April 25 and 30. Johan has tweeted that he still hopes to do the performance on June 5.
  22. Many thanks, Aileen. Getting the information so early has enabled me to book my favourite seat!
  23. 9 per performance has been the Friends' allocation for Hochhauser performances for quite some time.
  24. For visiting companies I don't think that the ROH restricts seats available to Friends. I've always had the impression that they release virtually all seats at the start of Priority Booking (although they presumably hold some back for VIPs and critics) As a matter of interest, I've just checked and there are a number of stalls circle standing left for some Swan Lake performances but I couldn't see any for the other programmes.
  25. Does anybody know how the number of 'views' of a post is calculated? I posted a ticket for sale yesterday and, according to the site it has had zero 'views'. Despite this I've had an enquiry about the ticket. I think it unlikely the person enquiring is psychic! This leads me to believe that this feature of the site does not work properly.
