  1. @DanceMamma - Do you mean that you're only sewing the ribbon into the lining of the shoe? My daughter goes through a pair a week and I've always gone straight through to the satin.
  2. My good friend's daughter was waitlisted for Upper School last year then was granted a place from the waitlist and attended. Best of luck!
  3. Last summer, my daughter (16 years, in Superieur) did the field trips/excursions with the POB on Sunday, so didn't have time to spend with me other than a couple meals in Nanterre. I stayed in downtown Paris, which is not near the ballet school, but I didn't want to stay in Nanterre. Some parents did choose to stay near the ballet school, which was lucky in one case when her daughter decided she couldn't stay in the dorm (hot, food was not good, lots of stairs) and stayed with her mom instead.
  4. We heard on 15 April last summer, hope that helps.
  5. Yes, same at Upper School. Presentation on the last day. If your dancer stays for the full 5 weeks, there are two opportunities for presentations, if I remember correctly. One at the end of the first 2-3 weeks, and another at the end of the 5 weeks, as technically your dancer will cross over two sessions.
  6. My daughter had the opposite experience to @FlexyNexy - maybe it's what our kids individually need in terms of coaching at the time?
  7. My DD was accepted last year at 16 years, her video was about 8 minutes long. She used the same video she had created for RBS's year-round training as videos are time intensive to do.
  8. @BalerinaMom - I don't recall getting any feedback last year when my daughter was accepted (didn't attend due to ankle surgery). Where did you see that they will send feedback? I missed that somehow.
  9. @BarbaraH - Yes, but need to see if she can/wants to squeeze it in before another one she has already accepted. My DD is older, though, 16.
  10. @sofiadance - Many did get no's. Sorry I haven't seen any info about how many are on the waitlist.
  11. @mim - it'll be interesting to see what others say, but to your questions: 1) in 2020 we submitted all in pointe shoes, this year did flat for 1, 2, 3 - doubt it matters too much; 2) in both years, my daughter's standing foot in the arabesque was flat.
  12. @NotadanceMa- It's been awhile since her SAB experience but I recall they had lots of outings led by the resident managers (e.g., top of Empire State building, musical, Central Park, boat tour) and they could venture out with their friends based on restrictions agreed to with the parents - the parents are given options as to how far away from SAB their kids could roam. She enjoyed that downtime experience more than being an older student at the White Lodge SI primarily because the WL downtime seemed to be more structured around the younger students, for good reason. Not as much to do in the center of the park.
  13. My dancer has attended the SAB 5-week SI and RBS 2-week SI in White Lodge. In both places, the quality of teaching was high, teachers were supportive, and she was surrounded by incredibly talented dancers. The main differences she found were of course the style of ballet (my daughter learned she doesn't love Balanchine) and the hours per day of dancing. SAB did not have as many hours of dancing per day as RBS (note: she attended SAB pre-pandemic) but she found SAB's classes to be highly intense, with each class feeling like an audition. She had wished for more dancing at SAB, though.
  14. @Tiaramum - both American. Note that they are friends from a past summer intensive, which is how I found out about their direct entries. I don't have contact info for the others in their (very international) class. It felt like the United Nations - very cool experience.
  15. @Babyballerinamum - yes, they were in the oldest group and both were there in the same two-week session.
  16. @Babyballerinamum - I know of two girls (purple girls at White Lodge) in the last two weeks who received by email direct entry to next year's SI, with one of them also offered to skip the preliminary audition round for full-time.
  17. My daughter 15-yr old will attend 2 weeks in the superior level. I'm hoping she'll get a boarding spot, but otherwise she'll stay with me. We're from the US.
  18. @NYC - we heard from Paris Opera this morning and are considering it, but my daughter is older - 15.
  19. My DD got a yes for weeks 3/4, so may be among the older ones due to the two weeks? Holding my breath for those who haven't looked yet, especially @Lilidance!
  20. My daughter is at SFBS and is very excited - it'll be very interesting to see how she will impact the company and the school!
  21. Sorry, I don't know! My daughter didn't audition for that one, so I had only heard about it through others.
  22. Yes, @Peanut68, there is the National Summer Intensive Audition Tour, which is going on right now, where you audition with one of the companies/schools and many others see you at the same time. There doesn't seem to be a great website for the tour itself, but each of the participating companies has posted information about it on their own websites, so I encourage you to Google it!
