  1. Hi @Zaramy dad is yr 9 at The Hammond, feel free to DM me with any questions, also have some knowledge of Moorlands.
  2. Totally normal… I think the idea of it builds into a dream for years, but the reality if leaving home at 11 is huge & really not something any child of that age wants to do. We are going into yr9 & my DD would not swap for anything now, but still puts of planning to go back. Feel free to PM if you need advice or support xx
  3. One thing to consider(and I feel it puts extra pressure on those who may not be emotionally ready to go away at 11) is that yr7 is when the highest number of funded places are available across all vocational schools. Admittedly since the recent changes for schools to guarantee 3 years, there may be more scope for yr10, although potentially there will be a cohort of “assessed out pupils from other schools looking to fill those spaces”.
  4. The Hammond break up for Easter on Thursday, do not know if this will make a difference. 🤞
  5. If I remember correctly the form allows you to put what you think salary will be.. think adjustments would be made the following year if you were out with figures.. we did our during covid & with furlough we knew salary would be less for the next year and I know we were able to do that. re bursary, I believe they are re applied for each year, not as guaranteed as MDS & does not cover all the extras.
  6. We have had an invite back to audition on 14th March.
  7. I did get an email back saying they may run a further audition for those who could not attend. Which yr group was your DC auditioning for?
  8. Has anyone heard anything further from Moorlands, my DD could not make the yr9 audition and I was informed they would be in touch as were thinking of running another for those that could not attend. However it appears places are been offered. Has anyone had yr9 offer?
  9. Good luck… My DD is one of the meet and greet pupils..
  10. In all honesty we did the same, my DD’s dance teacher choreographed it and they worked on it together for quite some time.. I think this is often the norm, as is having a singing teacher for that aspect too.. However my DD did not have singing lessons so pulled together a musical theatre act from Matilda.. The best advice she said she received though was from another student on audition day, who just said be bubbly & show you love performing, that’s what they like… She is now in yr8… good luck 🤞
  11. Handmade bun wraps at https://www.bettysbunnies.co.uk small family business, ran by my 12 year old.. will make in any colours desired.
  12. Sorry.. harassed day, my DD is in yr7, not DS...
  13. Hi @Coconut Popcorn The associates generally happens on a Sunday & Hammond pupils do not take part (well unless something has changed this year) My DS was an associate & is now in yr7 boarding, she had to stop associates. They would not have anyone to accompany them to school for it & have a very different Sunday routine.
  14. Current yr7 are 21 with 13 dancers, 10 boarding xx
  15. My DD did it and thought it was the best associates she had done, full day, good variety of lessons and teachers. She loved it so much she is now at the school.. x
  16. We can start to put one together for you all over the weekend, it is Exeat so kids all home and easier to do then xx
  17. Last year the most helpful thing for our new starters was to have group chat with the current yr7,s they were able to tell them everything they needed & make them feel part of the family at the same time. I am sure we could arrange something like this for this year, my DD is current yr7 as is @Calea’s so if you wanted to Do this we could arrange xx
  18. It is lovely to see familiar names here again.. congratulations 🥳 and welcome to the Hammond family xxx
  19. Sorry meant to say she is in yr7, going into yr8..
  20. Congratulations both, my daughter is currently in yr7 and just loves it. She will have the most wonderful time, if you need to know anything then just ask.
  21. Well I imagine he would have room to store it.. could ride in the corridors maybe? 😆
  22. I only really know about the girls house, they are generally 2 to a room for younger years, my DD thinks boys can have a room on their own if they want as less of them. There is a boys house & a girls, all have private bathrooms, access to kitchen and common room etc. Able to decorate with as much from home as they like, our has led lights and pictures all over the walls. Able to make it as homely as you want. Weekend food is brought in & the new school menu is really varied with themed nights at weekend eg. French etc. Boys seam very happy with it.
