  4. If you book two consecutive performances it’s less likely that you will get the same cast.
  5. Yep. Putting the established étoiles in the other ballets you mention, whilst the younger talented dancers get to dance Lise & Colas in La Fille makes a lot of sense.
  6. With all the costs of getting to a touring location already incurred be the run 4 or 6 performances, I think if they could get the bums on seats the costs of extra days would cover themselves. Rather it’s that the audience has shrunk due to personal finance pressure ands changing tastes.
  7. In this respect the POB AD had the right idea. I’ve said it elsewhere before. I think this is the perfect ballet for younger audiences and for non-principal company members (with the requisite skills) to hone their craft on in the lead roles which are a couple of teenagers out to have fun. Leo Dixon, Mariko Sasaki, Liam Boswell, Madison Bailey, Marco Masciari, Viola Pantuso… the list is long.
  8. One way of honing his Ashton skills ahead of the June triple bills at the ROH.
  9. I love reading the diverse and mixed reactions of forum members. Thank you one and all. As a company, NYCB has received a warm welcome in London as well it ought. The dancers don’t choose the work to be presented. However, this was definitely a missed opportunity. For me, the programme presented this week has highlighted that turkeys are not just for Thanksgiving. I also give thanks that London is the home of two of the world’s best ballet companies and a third is a relative stones throw away in Birmingham.
  10. Previous enquires/complaints have all told me that it is the visiting company/choreographer who determines the sound levels for their work(s) not Sadlers Wells staff.
  11. Looks like a great evening’s entertainment that has almost sold out with Grand Tier seats only left at £30. 12. It’s longer rather than shorter . Thursday’s matinee started at 2.30 and finally ended at 16.50. If anyone is looking I’ve just returned my ticket for tomorrow’s matinee to the box office.
  13. often the 2-3 inches of hair sticking up from the scalp with gel are included in the measurement 😉
  14. The tempo was faster last night than on opening night (at one point it bordered on funereal but the execution of the choreography was exquisite and thus hypnotic to watch). Overall there seemed to be more energy in the Company last night. Sparks were flying last night in the national dances and Mayara Magri whipped up a storm with her fouettés. Opening night was more sedate from Marinella Nunez with exquisite control displayed. Both excellent interpretations and why no one performance can be considered as definitive.
  15. no QR codes, at SW yesterday (I asked) for NYCB. printed cast lists were stuck on the walls in a few places. perhaps this goes hand in hand with Bruce's observation that dancers are sometimes thrown in at the deep end with little rehearsal time. one way of keeping them, if you'll excuse the pun, "on their toes". haha
  16. I don’t know of any standing places at the Coliseum. Are there some?
