  1. It's available on the iPlayer but only until tomorrow morning. Starts around 21 mins 30 in. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001mwsx/breakfast-13062023
  2. In the light of the discussions up thread about ticket pricing present & past, I found it interesting to come across this paragraph in a review of Aida at the ROH in the June 1973 edition of Opera magazine.
  3. Getting there but not entirely! I haven't booked yet, partly because I'm waiting to see what the weather's going to do. I don't want to be trudging up Exhibition Road in 27 degree heat & have found the RAH pretty hot for Proms in previous years, so I'm holding off & hoping next week will be cooler.
  4. I have thought about that but then it seems an awful waste of money to pay for a full evening of performance & only see 40 minutes of it.... If only Morera wasn't retiring then I could happily skip the entire thing!
  5. Wow, that zebra costume is amazing! I can now see why Brandon Lawrence said on his podcast that no-one would be able to tell if he was crying at the curtain call or not! I've never seen Still Life At The Penguin Cafe but would like to just for the costumes. How utterly infuriating for her. It's bad enough when one misses an "ordinary" performance due to train cancellations, let alone a special one like a farewell performance.
  6. The only problem with that is if, as in this case, his work is programmed as part of a mixed bill & you want to see something else on the same bill.
  7. Thank you very much for the offer but I'm afraid I don't think I want to risk standing for 3h, especially in this weather. The first time I ever tried standing anywhere, at the Globe, I blacked out & collapsed, so it's rather put me off trying standing tickets anywhere again.
  8. Oh, I wish I did. I want to spend as little as possible on a ticket for next Saturday, while still being sat close enough to see Morera's acting.
  9. Ah, I was forgetting that Tatiana has an Act III pdd with Gremin as well as her final one with Onegin, so that's probably the more likely one given Braendesrod has danced Gremin before. Hopefully if anyone on here is going then they can report on which one was danced.
  10. I wonder if these are any indication of possible future debuts in the full length pieces? I would certainly be interested in seeing Gasparini as Juliet & Braendesrod as Onegin.
  11. Why add music then? I think I would have disliked Act II of Woolf Works and the Qualia pdd in the Diamond Celebration slightly less if they had been performed in silence rather than the loud music they were performed to!
  12. The cast sheet is up for tonight & I'm baffled by the timings. Adding up the individual times I make it 2 hours 45 mins, but their overall time is 3 hours 5 mins. I'd be interested to know from anyone either at the dress rehearsal or who's going tonight what the timings are actually working out to be?
  13. Does it seem likely that the dancers might go on strike soon & refuse to do the tour to the ROH?
  14. The cast list is up for the Friends Rehearsal of the triple bill. It's the second cast of Corybantic Games & Anastasia but what I presume is the first (only?) cast of Untitled, given it includes the dancers in the rehearsal photos the ROH recently posted, so we finally have cast info for it. https://static.roh.org.uk/digital/cast-sheets/Untitled2023CorybanticGamesAnastasiaIII-v4.pdf?_ga=2.24663162.1797137212.1686243809-1125257501.1479833773
  15. In a way I selfishly wish Magri & Corrales didn't have the cinecast. If they didn't then they would be my first choice to book for but now I feel like I can't really justify seeing them live when I can see them at the cinema a lot more cheaply. Admittedly I have already seen Magri live as Kitri, as I saw her role debut in 2019. I'm also dithering over whether I can justify seeing Nunez/Muntagirov again as I did see them in 2019 but on the other hand it could be Nunez's last time performing Kitri if there's another 4 years before the next Don Q run. Oh, I need more money!
  16. Having looked at it with frequent pauses, I'd make a tentative guess at Daichi Ikarashi, Harrison Lee & Giacomo Rovero but I'm not certain of even those 3 & have no clue on the others. I'd love them to do an Insight stream of rehearsals for all the masked characters in SB: the rats, the cats & the wolf. I'd be very interested to know if the dancers do facial expression acting when rehearsing even though they'll be masked in performances.
  17. She was supposed to do Cinderella with Sambe though, until he got injured, so I'm not sure that one counts.
  18. Thanks. I was wondering about it after seeing the cinecast encore on Wednesday, given even with close ups it's impossible to identify any of the rats. The mention in one of the interval feature of Helpmann having danced both the Prince & Carabosse in the same performance also made me wonder if any Princes, bored with having to hang around until Act II, have been tempted to ask to play a rat to give them something to do earlier!
  19. I suspect the answer to this will be "No" but I'll try asking just in case. Does anyone know who's been dancing the rats in this run of SB?
  20. I agree with you on that @MJW, given they each get more stage time than the SPF & Prince! A few random thoughts: Don Q: good to see Acri getting to do Basilio. I wasn't expecting an Osipova/Sambe pairing. I wonder why Campbell's not doing Basilio? Hirano's presumably sticking to Espada again. Hayward's presumably decided not to give Kitri a go. When did Lamb last do Kitri? I know she didn't in the last run so I'm not that surprised that she's not doing it this time. The Cellist: I hadn't intended to see this again but as Magri's dancing I now feel I'll have to! (Annoyingly for me, for the 2nd year running her making a role debut clashes with me already being booked to see ETO.) The Nutcracker: great to see Buvoli getting to make her SPF debut. I can't say I was expecting that. Hinkis isn't marked as a debut but she wasn't actually able to dance it this season, was she? (Unfortunately with both of them only dancing on New Year's Day I bet the trains won't let me see them.) No Osipova, which I can only think is her decision.
  21. Now they've announced fuller casting, as usual the dancers I'd ideally like to see are spread across several casts!
  22. I'm intending to see Morera's farewell, assuming I can get a rush ticket as none of the cheapest seated stalls circle tickets were available when booking opened. However I may well not see Untitled 2023 & I'm not certain if I want to see Corybantic Games either. Since I didn't even like Woolf Works, which is supposed to be the McGregor work that people who don't like McGregor do like, I suspect there's no chance that I'll like Untitled 2023. Hence wanting to buy a cheap ticket, if I end up only seeing either third or two thirds of the triple bill!
  23. I'm glad I'm not the only person who sometimes mixes up Annette Buvoli & Nadia Mullova-Barley!
