  1. The ROH stream has this warning on Giselle: Parental guidance recommended Some of the characters in this performance experience the challenges of mental health.
  2. Will the content be significantly different to the last run?
  3. I think so. Not a young ROH ticket left it seems so I've told my daughter I'll take her to the Georgian Swan Lake instead (although hoping some offers might come through for it before I commit)! Interested to see if take up is as strong tomorrow given the over-30s pricing.
  4. Went on the site to book Duets, the only part of the Festival of New Choreography which appeals, which opened this morning to all Friends. I think today is only Young ROH booking but it was impossible to get into the site, after 20 or so minutes when I finally gained access, the performances either crashed returning a technical error or told me the performances were sold out. Lucky I decided to try again a bit later as there were actually plenty of seats to choose from. Meanwhile my daughter's Young ROH booking similarly had a long wait and didn't initially show the Young ROH tickets for Dances Concertantes. Eventually getting access to these, she was told she had reached her ticket limit, then tickets added to basket disappeared on arrival in the basket.... Took about 40 mins to book her tickets. If today's booking pressures were for Young ROH only, I dread to think what tomorrow's General booking will be like.
  5. Unfortunately it seems to be 'Spring break' for most of the local companies while I am there.
  6. Can anyone advise what is available to watch outside of the UK, specifically US? I am travelling in April (missing most of Swan Lake) and have a bit of dead time to fill…
  7. The amazing (Olivier award winning) Jolly Folly for ENB which was a ray of sunshine as we came out of Covid - or it might have been in an 'out of lockdown for a moment' mixed bill by ENB. I remember being at Sadlers Wells, masked up and spaced out. She also had the opportunity to work with Matthew Bourne and is credited on his Romeo and Juliet.
  8. Does anyone have any further info on Duets in the Clore on 25 Feb? It’s the only programme I am remotely interested in but lack of info does not encourage me to book tomorrow.
  9. Very much looking forward to the working stage rehearsal tomorrow now that tube strikes are off. Anyone else going?
  10. Apparently there was funding for the dance specific events , but this sadly ran out and their programme ceased to exist. It's a shame as it was very affordable and accessible to all. I only heard of it because of the venue change to JW3 which I think did more outreach so only managed to access the last 2 or 3 events they ran.
  11. I had the pleasure many years ago of going to an event at Ivy House and walk through the grounds and some of the building. It would have been a fabulous home. The downstairs used to be a dance studio and I think a dance school used the space. Now it’s been turned into a prep school and every time I drive past I wonder whether there is any remnant of Pavlova’s time there.
  12. There is just so little to watch on TV at the moment and no ballet to go to till Wednesday so I'm using it to fill the gaps!
  13. Does anyone have any insight into how programming is decided for each season?
  14. I am feeling a bit of a final straw moment and have emailed KOH this morning to ask about investment in new classical narrative and heritage works.
  15. When will we hear news about a beautiful new work of classical ballet? Never???
  16. Absolutely delighted for him. Very much enjoyed seeing Giacomo rehearse and perform as Hans Peter. Looking forward to seeing him in some soloist roles. You must have caught this mid update as it now says 2024!
  17. What a ridiculous concept that not being allowed to use phones will stop people from going to the theatre. This isn’t about rules per se, it’s about etiquette and common decency to the artists and fellow audience members (hello choir, sorry for preaching). Frankly, why spend upwards of £100 to spend the time on your phone? Noted that Isabella Gasparini shared someone’s covert filming on her Instagram stories today. Having looked at his additional stories, it looks like he was in the stalls and rather close to the ushers so they can’t have been much deterrent (likely to ensure they didn’t disturb anyone else in dealing with it). There’s footage from the Christmas tree growing and snowflakes to Act 2 divertissements. The straw which breaks the camel’s back? He is a dancer himself AND a dance teacher, so setting a bad example to his students. Whatever the reason, I don’t understand why it’s so hard to take a break of usually little more than an hour from a mobile phone. It would probably make more sense to have some addiction therapy rather than shell out for West End tickets.
  18. Unfortunately new Sky box since then so I may well have but saved programmes don't carry across!
  19. The Royal Ballet All Star Gala looks like the mid-Covid gala which included Carousel - thrilled to be able to see it and to capture it on my Sky Box - I'd been hoping it would be added to ROH Stream but this will do nicely!
  20. I’d prefer a Ratmansky or someone capable of creating a full length classical narrative ballet or reconstruction. Something with real staying power and a listenable score.
  21. I also actively miss this production. There are some lovely moments in act 1 but the staging is rather dark. Act 2 is so sparse that it is lost on the stage and it seems rather unfinished. I have already written to Aaron S Watkin to plead for a new (or old) production. Very much looking forward to Giselle next week though. Hoping I can get to the dress rehearsal despite the tube strike.
