  1. I'm not on this group but am on another seat filling group and haven't ever seen anything for ROH. TimeOut offers has previously had ROH deals but not this season (yet). My daughter is YoungROH but no offers - unless they are only sending to people who haven't booked yet. Could be an NHS list?
  2. Tonight was another wonderful ray of sunshine. Yasmine is always one of my must sees, especially in partnership with Matthew Ball. It is very hard not to grin from ear to ear watching the duo and enjoying the moments of comedy and the excitement of all the leaps, turns, holds - and those moments in their act 1 odd where the lifts turned into a bit of a throw in the air (does everyone do that as I haven’t noticed before?). Isabella Gasparini continued to be pure joy to watch - I would be happy to have her dance Amour in every performance I see. Charlotte Tonkinson and Mica Bradbury were confident and assured as Kitri’s friends are were a lovely balanced pair to watch. Very much enjoying the Sancho Panzas- both in terms of the visual transformation and also the fabulous acting. On the note of visual transformation, I would never have realised that Christopher Saunders was behind all of that hair as Lorenzo! A note across the 2 performances I have seen- it’s lovely to see some experimentation and opportunity in terms of the casting but there have been a couple of roles which seem to be a bit of an awkward fit.
  3. Excited for Kitri’s friends, delighted for Sancho Panza and thrilled to see Isabella Gasparini again! Looking forward to some sunshine… Had been planning to go to the Friends event but not sure I will make it at this rate…
  4. Absolutely nothing. Don’t know where the usher on my side went. Too funny, I guess should never make assumptions then!!
  5. It makes a couple of incidents in the stalls circle last night seem like nothing. There was some pretty brazen photography happening on the front row during the performance and on the other side of the light box, a flash even went off. Then there was the phone which rang and was completely ignored until it rang out…
  6. Wow, last night was fabulous. Spectacular dancing from Magri and Sambe, the wedding pas de deux was particularly on fire. Magri’s slip was unfortunate but it must be particularly difficult to get back on form when there was such an audible gasp from the audience. However, this gasp was a sign of things to come- they couldn’t have hoped for a more engaged and warm audience who laughed and applauded in all the right places and no doubt made the pair feel incredibly loved. Sissens was oozing sex appeal as Espada - I adore him but have never seen him quite like this. It’s no wonder Mercedes struggled to peel the other women off him. Loved Yuhui Choe’s Queen of the Dryads - she has such a soft and fluid port de bras supported by incredible strength in what looks like a very tough solo. It was also wonderful to see Isabella Gasparini back in the role of Amour, this time as a first soloist. She is sprightly, precise and musical and overall a joy to watch. I have never seen Liam Boswell look so unappealing as he does as Sancho Panza - both in terms of the costume but also his excellent acting! A well rounded dancer (in more senses than one)! Can’t wait to see more from him. Overall a stellar cast last night, now can’t wait to see Magri paired with Ball as I can’t believe the chemistry could exceed what we saw on stage last night. Lovely to see @Balletbloke again too.
  7. SO excited for this. Overall lots to look forward to this evening, including a perfect view from my SCS spot...
  8. Out of interest, has anyone else who was booked for 7 November received any further information as to what the special event/invited audience will be?
  9. 😂 essentially the area in the middle of the stalls seemed to be more ROH types than the usual varied SW audiences. Hard to put into words. I didn't feel particularly presentable yesterday as practically threw clothes on after a poor night's sleep and headed down straight from work. Was probably channeling a bit of an inferiority complex!
  10. It's interesting to see how we can have different perspectives of the same performance! Having seen Emma Hawes lead T&V - albeit at the dress rehearsal - I found Sanguen Lee to give it much more attack and precision in all the right places with plenty of the pizzazz and sparkle you would expect from a principal. She brings something new and much needed to ENB and I feel like her arrival (and some of the other new arrivals, including her partner Gareth Haw) are a positive statement about the standards Aaron S Waktin will expect. There were some really nice opportunities for soloists here and it was nice to see Angela Wood in particular taking one of these roles - and sparkling too. Perhaps she was trained on Balanchine or perhaps she is benefitting from the new direction at ENB but she seemed to really relish every moment of the performance. I was sitting in the stalls - Row L - last night and did not find Les Noces quite as impactful as I had last week. One reason for this may well be proximity to the stage vs Row B dress circle. I found the music, particularly the singing, sounded quite different and a little overwhelming in places, where last time I really enjoyed the orchestration of the work. I also understood the narrative this time which made the dancing much more powerful. I do wonder though if this is just one of those pieces which has more impact the fresher it is. Breanna Foad, Francesca Velicu and Alice Bellini were outstanding. Les Noces' extreme contrast with T&V was a clear statement from the new AD as to the direction he wants to take his new company in - strong classical technique with the ability to smash contemporary works. Four Voices is not really my cup of tea. It had its moments and it was good to see it showcase Daniel McCormick (a favourite since the year he was a clear cut above all of the other Emerging Dancer competitors) for one, but I found myself trying to remember which song we were up to in a 'when will it end' kind of way. My daughter pointed out that there were a few moments of synchronisation which were slightly off. Definitely preferred this as a second viewing. Lovely to see Aaron S Watkin sitting in the front section of the stalls (prob about row F) and conversing with his (rather well to do) audience members in the next row during the interval. Overall, I'm excited to see what will come next for ENB.
  11. Please can someone confirm the run time tonight? The rehearsal last night had a rather long second interval in particular and finished much later than anticipated.
  12. Had booked to see Osipova on 4th and Magri on 7 November, so a little disappointed, especially as I feel that Kitri is one of the roles I should see her dance live. However, Magri was my first choice having seen her dance at what I think was the Lausanne gala - and I am keen to see her with 2 different partners. Still none the wiser as to what the big surprise is for 7 November's performance - pretty sure ROH had said we'd be informed 'in the coming weeks' which surely we have well passed...
  13. I know we don’t comment about dress rehearsals etc but if you haven’t yet bought a ticket for Our Voices, you might want to get a wriggle on…
  14. It was a really lovely rehearsal. Christopher Saunders makes it look like every day in the studio is hard work but lots of fun. A great selection of dancers and hope I get to see this Mercedes and Espada.
  15. I’m at ROH for the insight and I am 80% sure that Aaron S Watkin and a group of people passed by (marched through) the foyer cafe a few mins ago… Another heavy day so perhaps a wild imagination.
  16. Oooh that would be wonderful to see this eve. My mind went completely blank so was thinking Act 2 gypsies…
  17. My booking yesterday went smoothly, but worth noting that Manon already seems quite popular and to get central SCS I've had to de-prioritise the casts I wanted to see, whereas everything seemed to be easily available for Nutcracker and Don Q. There was one new cast I particularly wanted to see so may have to be less discerning ticket wise to make it achievable!
  18. Please keep sharing these wonderful videos. I wonder if it would be a good idea to add this and the Jiri Kylian to the same thread so it's all in one place and easy to find.
  19. Interesting to hear. I thought perhaps I'd found it easier to get a ticket because this was the case at all levels.
  20. Interestingly it was only possible to buy a single ticket for Autumn season. I don't know if this was at all booking levels though. I wouldn't wait for a pair to come up.
  21. There's also an article on it in the Times 2 this morning by Richard Morrison.
  22. Very pleased with the casting for the date I've chosen, but also that it's completely different to opening night which is usually the cast for the working stage rehearsal. Any other ENB supporters going to the rehearsal? I ask because my tickets seem to have disappeared from 'Upcoming Events' on the website. Last time Sadlers wasn't ticketed so the booking information was necessary, which is a bit worrying.
  23. So lovely to see this compilation, especially to revist his pre-professional days. You can already see his incredible technique and precision as Billy Elliot. I really hope he's back to full fitness soon. Such an incredible dancer and wish all the opportunity for him to continue with his career.
