  1. I too have heard Stockport mentioned but no dates
  2. I too think it very odd that only one person has heard . Poor Bridget will now be flooded with phone calls . I am sure it can't be long now . hang on in there all ! Been there , worn the t shirt !!
  3. None of the people I know have heard anything
  4. suggest you ring Bridget Creaton - think confirmation e mails were sent. Which year is your Dd/Ds ?
  5. Not sure if the emails are out yet - or have you had news dancing10 ?
  6. I imagine this will be a very small select audition , as i guess most places are already taken , and also surely there cannot be many people out there who are not already sorted with their choices for September . Obviously there is still a little movement within schools , as I believe offers of MDS are still being given from hammond ( and maybe others ? ) I presume that those who auditioned previously are not eligible , and those who wish to stay at home with their local schools will do so - therefore it must be limited to those who for whatever reason have changed their minds , or who missed the deadline previously . So good luck to all going for it , Elmhurst affords a fabulous training for classical dancers.
  7. Two of my pupils have a yes for leeds - a girl yr 6 and a boy yr 4 . Also one on a SWL with fingers and toes crossed for yr 5 . Exciting times.
  8. Well you will love it . my DS is currently there and enjoys every minute. fantastic teachers , beautiful surroundings and a wonderful atmosphere. Not sure about class sizes - some do dance , others TA. All the best anyway x
  9. Good luck to your DD I am sure she will enjoy the audition. everyone is very friendly. what year is she hoping to try for Blackqueen ?
  10. One of my pupils got in off a waiting list for year 6. Fingers crossed for you
  11. I remember that when I was training , I used to think that I was projecting , whereas I was only dancing with good technique , and very correctly. I played the piano too, and this was much more natural , so I can relate to that. Now, as a teacher , For me , the performance skills came very late , and I see this in my own DS .But it does come . EYB and NYB have been great for my pupils , also watching or participating in competitions, despite there being elements of these that I dislike . Teenagers are very self conscious and I am sure that if she genuinely loves dance , then eventually she will start to share that love with her audience . Videoing my DS really helped him too.
  12. Hi there! Has anyone got a DS going to Elmhurst summer school ? My son knows not a soul going ( aged 15 ) Thanks
  13. Hi everyone, Is anyone out there going for year 7 at the extra audition?
  14. Its only my opinion , but , as a teacher , even if a child is unwell , or has an off day , so to speak , the experienced panel can still assess the child properly , as their physique ( which lets face it , has a lot to do with it ) doesnt alter , neither does their facility / flexibility to any great extent .(Unless injured , of course ) . Therefore it would be of little point re auditioning if already refused a place , as it would be a double knock to a childs confidence .These schools have years of experience and I am sure they know what they are about . Better to set out your stall straight away , in my opinion, rather than having to plough through hundreds of applicants again . At the end of the day - when you're in the company you'll still have off days !!
  15. Allenova school of dance in Reading
  16. Well we must agree to differ , Primrose, but I must put one thing straight - Hammond no longer allow students to attend Royal associates . My student has improved immeasurably since moving to Tring , as the ballet staff are fantastic . I am guessing that your dd was at hammond a while ago , Primrose ? Sadly , a lot of great teachers have left in the last few years ,Mr Kidd , Mr Dutton, Mrs Durrant . Anyway , I guess its a case of what suits one may not suit another , and I would urge anyone considering vocational training to talk to their own dance teacher at length , also to existing parents and pupils and then , having been to open days , make your choice. Schools change from year to year , and everyone has teachers they love and teachers they struggle with, just like normal school .Its only my opinion , and like Primrose , do not wish to offend anyone.
  17. Good luck to all in Leeds tomorrow ! Anyone out there? I am entering 5 of my pupils - 3 of whom were on SWL last year .
  18. Speaking as a teacher and a parent - would advise Tring over hammond if its classical training you are after - they nuture links with ENB and in the Cecchetti competition two years ago , proved themselves to be excellent contenders , with at least 3 students reaching the final and one boy winning a major prize . Yes - two students have been offered Bolshoi from hammond , but only one remained - other is at Elmhurst . Hammond , I am sure would class itself as more musical theatre - the staff , too , would concur . However - good advice from others on forum - go to the open days , get a feel for the schools and , indeed question how many grads are in ballet companies now. good luck with it all. x
  19. Hi C4D, Just to share - obviously I do not know what your daughter's condition is , but assuming it is the same as the head girl of my school . After a huge struggle which involved being in clinic for 6 months, she is now back to dancing , looking better than she has ever looked , and with renewed vigour . She is laying to rest all our fears about any long term damage , and I thank God that her fighting spirit , her friends , and of course her Mum ! got her through this . please don't think I am making assumptions , just wanted to share good news . I wish dd well and well done to you , I know its hard , - hang on in there. xxxx
  20. Whereabouts in the country are you double tour ? I might be able to put you in touch with a friend who has ds in yr 9
  21. Ballemum - summer course week commencing july 15th
  22. We were looking at Elmhurst for a couple of my students - trouble is that the A levels on offer are English , french and Art , and these guys would be looking to do science and maths . Wonder if there is any change , according to the demands of the year group ? I guess not . Tring do A levels though , and I notice noone has mentioned Hammond.
