  1. I saw lots of pictures of Prix de Lausanne 2015 via their FB site and from a 'notification' yesterday showing registration and some classes.
  2. CeliB Are you able to tell us what number your DS is so we can watch out for him? Thanks.
  3. When my DS was audtioning back in 2011 for various post 16 ballet courses he had an audition at Rambert and when we were there the then current students were around and they were all shapes and sizes. So I wouldn't worry about your shape that you mentioned in an earlier post.
  4. DS allowed me to open up his letters while he was at secondary school so I was the one to tell him the good news or break the bad news to him. I couldn't have waited until he got home at 4.30pm for him to open up the letters. I was nervous enough for him anyway.
  5. Is your daughter feeling any better yet?
  6. Be positive. The exam is over a week away and hopefully her cough and cold will be better then. While she's resting can she watch the Advance 1 DVD or something so she can go through the exercises in her head? Why not phone up for a Physio appt today so she might be able to be seen this side of the weekend then she has a few more days to take their advice? I hope she gets better and does well in her exam. Good luck.
  7. I too was wondering if anyone from RBS, ENBS, Rambert or Elmhurst has got got through, but then again haven't heard if they entered in the first place. Anyone know of anyone from those schools who entered and has got through to the next round?
  8. Looking at 'Young Musician', which I think is along the same lines as 'Young Dancer', they seem to announce only those who have got into the final round. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/26PCHVlBhVQCJSBYWwMfRdJ/competitors Perhaps this competition will be like that one and wewon't know until the next round has happened
  9. From the 4 at Central. I think 2 are in the Ballet category and 2 in the Contemporary one.
  10. From Central School of Ballet FB page this afternoon: 'Congratulations to 4 of our third year students who are through to the second round of BBC's Young Dancer competition! They are busy rehearsing for their live performances in front of the judges in December.'
  11. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_%28shopping%29 It's now happening in this country. Also Monday 1st December is 'Cyber Monday'! (the Monday following Black Friday) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber_Monday Again credt to the USA in starting this. But for the UK I think it's the day 'everyone' orders their Christmas presents online as it's after pay day - or something like that.
  12. There has been a few online sites that have had around 20% discount already. M&S and Debenhams to name just two.
  13. Skating at Somerset House - http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/skatesomersethouse?camefrom=CFC_UK_SOM_FM £5 tickets for some sessions - http://www.fortnumandmason.com/c-1767-special-5-skate-tickets.aspx
  14. https://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/tube-dlr-lo-adult-fares.pdf might help for some.
  15. Thought about some more Christmas things to see in London. http://www.visitlondon.com/tag/christmas-markets http://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/event/40165958-southbank-centre-christmas-market http://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/event/40307288-southbank-centres-winter-festival (I wasn't impresesed with Hyde Park Winter Wonderland as had just been to Vienna and seen some of the markets there and then this London one was a big disappointment)
  16. When we used to go to the Globe, I think the tickets went on sale in February. Grounding tickets were available then as we used to get two seats and the rest groundling tickets.
  17. I like to get on a bus at Oxford street, sit on the top deck on the right hand side of the bus and then enjoy the lights and then get off at Marble Arch. Best time is when it gets dark at about 4pm onwards. Walk along outside Selfridges and look at their windows. Go and look at Fortnum and Mason's window display. Trafalgar Square to see the Christmas tree.
  18. When DS was applying and needed references from his school, we gave the school a stamped addressed envelope to be used by them to send the reference directly to the ballet school and we put a covering letter in with the application form/photos etc. It all worked out and at least I got those applications into the post all at the same time.
  19. Why not ring the school and ask them what they think should/needs be done first and get them to help you. Good luck to your daughter and to you. Christmas is only a few weeks away and you'll have her back then.
  20. The above post makes me think of when DS did the 'Bleep test' at school with all his year when he was about 14. He was one of the last 3 left and stopped because he was 'fed up' of doing it! The PE department were quite surprised about how well he had done, not being keen on Rugby/Football etc.
  21. Have a look at these for injuries and follow the links. Cardiff to Bath takes just over an hour by car depending on the traffic. http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Left-dead-gala-star/story-22042620-detail/story.html http://www.danceagain.org Hope you find what you're looking for.
  22. Have a good cry and cuddle all together the day before you leave. It helps.
  23. Could you not ask the Associate school your DC attends to write a reference letter if/when required so then you wouldn't have to ask the dancing teacher.
  24. Remembered that DS got free bus travel as he was doing AS levels at Central. Not sure how he managed to get free bus travel once 18 but somehow he did I think forms were only available from Post offices after Sept 1st as I remember DS using a normal oyster card for a bit until his card came through. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/students-and-children/16-zip-oyster-photocard
  25. If I remember correctly from three years ago for Central and DS was 16, we had to get a form from a post office, get it stamped and signed at Central and send it off with payment or bank details. The address we used was his address in London. DS did get free bus travel. We had to reapply each September for a new card.
