Balletgirl1
So I’m 18 and for jazz, contemporary etc (basically all dance styles apart from ballet) I have always worn a leotard with my black footless tights over it. On my vocational course my uniform for these lessons has the tights on the top, so I’m convinced I’m right. My 12 sister, (and also my mum, and rest of the family) insist that all tights should be worn underneath leotards. I dont know, if it’s just the age difference or what, but I would interested to know everyone’s opinions on this to settle the debate of me vs the rest of my family thanks
Anna C
My dd does ballet and contemporary at Uni and just as when she was at associates (and briefly, FT training) she wears black footless tights *over* her leo. So she would say you are correct. 👍
Dancing unicorn
Haha!!! I can’t stand to see a coloured leotard over black tights. It just looks wrong! So yes you are right always black tights over the leotard every time! 😁😁
EverHopeful
In my classes the tights are always under the leotards. I haven’t seen them worn on top. 🤷🏻♀️
munchkin16
Pink tights under leotard, black ones over. I always think that black ones under look really weird! Mine are black stirrup tights so they go over my pink shoes to make sure they don’t break up the line of my leg.

joyofdance
Mine wears pink under, black.over. personally I think the black tights over a black leotard looks odd but it seems to be the done thing.
Picturesinthefirelight
I think partly its a practical thing. When going straight from a ballet class to a jazz or modern class (or vice versa) there isn't time to remove one set of tights and put another on so the black ones go over the top and the pink ones stay under.
Ruby Foo
Black tights - it’s always over. It’s the professional way to do it. Pink ballet, always under.
Mrs Brown
I have always seen it as pink under and black over.
