balletyas
Does anybody know what they're rehearsing?
alison
Total guesswork would suggest Romeo & Juliet, if there's no insight event for it. However, they're also in rehearsals for the Raven Girl bill and I think also the Ashton one, so you never know.

Sim
That's part of the Raven Girl bill mentioned by Alison above! Not sure whether they would rehearse both in one insight though.

Yes, apologies, I read Raven Girl and missed the word 'bill'. But Connectome might be a good candidate for the rehearsal, especially if Alastair Marriott is planning on introducing a second group of 4 supporting men this time round. toursenlair
A Royal Ballet rehearsal of Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet will be live-streamed via YouTube and the Royal Opera House website from 7.15pm BST (2.15 pm EDT) on 11 September 2015.The event — one of a number of upcoming live-streams from the Royal Opera House — will feature members of the Company rehearsing both pas de deux and solos, as well as being interviewed. Sarah Lamb and Ryoichi Hirano will rehearse the act one and three pas de deux, and Alexander Campbell will be coached through Mercutio's solos from acts one and two. The session will be led by Senior Ballet Master Christopher Saunders.
alison
Where did you find that, Katherine? (And why Hirano as Romeo?)
Sim
Maybe he is learning the part as cover for one or two of the scheduled Romeos?

John Mallinson
Hirano was not Romeo as implied in the publicity but Paris (a part he's danced before) - does no-one at the RB check these announcements? The rehearsal is still available via the ROH website and on YouTube.

Ah, that would make sense. I just assumed that it would be Romeo & Juliet rehearsing pdd.
Jillykins
Really enjoyed this evening. It is a privilege to see the dancers working on their roles, especially as much was concentrated on interpretation and acting skills. Christopher Saunders works with sensitivity and humour at times. He seems to appreciate the mixture of knowledge in the audience. Sarah and Rio were working on Juliet and Paris pas de deux. There was concentration on timing and the positioning of Paris in holds and lifts and the feelings of Juliet at his touch. In the discussion with the dancers Sarah explained her feelings of how Juliet developed as a thirteen year old to womanly maturity in a short space of time. The solo work was Alex Campbell as Mercutio. First part in the ballroom where he exploded into enormous elevation and intricate pique movements at high speed. There was clarity of movement and tremendous energy which Christopher harnessed into what looks to be a very successful Mercutio performance. Again we had a dancer in interview giving incite into the ballet and the role he was to play in it. As a member of the audience I am grateful to the dancers and ballet master (not forgetting the pianist) for exposing themselves to a critical audience. I am looking forward to the cinema performance on 22nd.
Balletfanp
I saw this streamed and really enjoyed it. Particularly impressed with Alexander Campbell; it looks like he will be a wonderful Mercutio.

Bruce Wall
NOT THE RB ... but for anyone wishing an insight into yet another R&J - (with thanks to BA) Paloma Herrera's final official performance dancing on stage will be in Maximiliano Guerra's [Ex LFB/ENB] Romeo and Juliet and that will be streamed live from the Teatro Colón on Saturday, October 17th at 8:00 pm ART (midnight for UK audiences) Hopefully this stream will work better for many than the last one (Ashton's Sylvia) from TC did. http://www.teatrocolon.org.ar/en-vivo Edited September 17, 2015 by Bruce Wall
