  1. So do I. I would have humiliated him forthwith!!
  2. I think that she deserves more than a one-off gala.
  3. I would hope so, Ruth, but I know from past experience that these special events and galas often hike up the ticket prices, even in the 'normal' areas, thus putting them out of reach of many people. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.....we have no indication of a Fonteyn special event.
  4. Oh gosh let's hope not. I'd rather have nothing, than have a commemorative event where many of her real fans, and balletomanes, can't afford to participate.
  5. Since no-one else seems to be commemorating Margot Fonteyn's centenary, I thought it would be fun/interesting to ask all of you how you would commemorate the occasion if you were the AD of the RB? Which ballets would you revive? Would you commission a new one, and if so, what would it be? What kind of peripheral events would you put on to complement the ballet productions? Is there anything else you would do? Over to you!
  6. Considering that she is and always will be the company's Assoluta, and the immense part she played in establishing it as one of the world's best, I am astonished that there wasn't even a mention of her centenary. A revival of Ondine perhaps? Nothing. Unless they are planning a tribute evening that we haven't been told about? I doubt it somehow. I don't understand why they are celebrating Bernstein's centenary but not Fonteyn's. He had nothing to do with the company whilst she, to a great degree, created it and its English style. Gggrrrr.
  7. McGregor has now been Choreographer in Residence for 13 years...maybe time for a change? It doesn't mean he still can't choreograph for the RB, but maybe not so frequently.
  8. Or Dolly Parton who, when asked how long it takes to do her hair in the morning, said "I don't know, I ain't ever there" !!
  9. Me too. Keeping everything crossed that at least one, and preferably both, of these pairings happen!!
  10. You and me both, Mary. She is one of the best, IMHO, and doing it with Bonelli would just be the icing on the ballet cake of the month.
  11. Agree with Anna. A wonderful way to end the run. Everyone danced beautifully, but it was Tierney Heap who particularly impressed me with her dramatic and emotional interpretation of Paulina.
  12. Maybe the end is downbeat because, amongst the joy of reunion, we need to remember that Hermione and Leontes lost their young son.
  13. Lovely post, Douglas. Who would you consider as the other two greatest male dancers of the 20th century?
  14. I agree, which is one of the reasons I would LOVE to see Shklyarov guest in this.....I think there are more possibilities in the lower ranks than in the principal one at the moment, but not sure how many are ready for this one next season.
  15. Or, Osipova with special guest Shklyarov.....he is a sensational Solor (just as I am sure Vadim will be!).
  16. The Morera/Bonelli partnership in this ballet was astonishing, and just as worthy, IMHO, as Osipova/Watson for recording.....oh dear, choices, choices!! I wish we could have them both!
  17. Indeed not! I did see it three times, with different casts, just to make sure, but I'm afraid it just didn't float my boat. As a matter of fact, I felt as if I were sinking further down the longer it went on. Yes there were a couple of good pdd, but that isn't enough to make me spend any money seeing it again. I'm glad there are enough people who want to see it again to make it worth reviving; it must have cost a bomb to produce!
  18. I would give it another chance if someone told me it had been completely re-choreographed....
