  1. I'm taking my Intermediate in December. There's no pianist at my school, so I guess it'll be recorded music?
  2. You need to download them using a Youtube to MP4 converter. I've done this, because they may well get taken down.
  3. I'm looking for old Pre-primary and Primary, which aren't on Youtube.
  4. My teacher has said on multiple occasions it's not the syllabus itself you're marked on--it's how you present it. Of course, if you really have no idea what you're doing, then you'll obviously fail! But one little mistake won't hurt. You still did *a* jete, so it may not even have caught the examiner's eye. I messed up (quite badly) in my g4 exam Sautés, but it didn't affect my Distinction. My Distinction record became very stressful to me, because once I'd got good marks so many times, people expected me to keep succeeding. I'm kind of glad I've broken it with grade 5! Sometimes you have to mentally let go of that record, and if you do that before you get the results, it's much easier. Best of luck!
  5. I have been hunting in vain for the DVDs of the old RAD Pre-primary and Primary syllabi. I desperately need these for teaching purposes. I have Grades 1-5 old syllabi from Youtube, but the first two aren't there. Could anyone advise, please? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hello, The exercises and dances will be performed as per the DVD order: [Barre] Plies Tendus Preparation for Grand Battements [Center] Ports de Bras Fondus Transfer of Weight Adage Sautés and saupresauts Echappes and Petit Jetes Gallops Turns Grand Allegro [Dances] Classical Dance: A or B (candidate's choice, sometimes the teacher chooses) Character Dance: C or D (again, choice.) Reverence It never deviates from this order. Best of luck to your child!
  7. For Grade 1 RAD Miss Louise commenting on the state of the Walks exercise: "Don't look like you're walking to Tesco's." Doing the shopping is boring for a kid, so this really hits home.
  8. Does anyone know where on YouTube the ROH's 2022 morning class can be found? All the others are up there, yet 2022 appears to have gone missing. It was my favorite one and I would love to watch it again. Thanks in advance.
  9. I loved Elmhurst Young Dancers when I was there. Each September there were four or five new children. Young Dancers classes consist of (or did when I was there) a 90-min ballet class followed by an hour of jazz (in yr 5 there was also Exercise.) There is a 15-min break between each class. The ballet classes were held in Studios 3, 4 or 5; exercise in 4 or 5, and jazz in studios 1 or 6. We rarely used Studio 7 because it was smaller. Teachers were lovely. I learnt so much at Elmhurst. It's not the right place for me anymore, but I love to write stories about my times as an Associate 🙂 Good luck to you and your child with the result.
  10. 12 is the earliest I would put anyone on pointe. 13 to be on the safe side. When I was at Elmhurst, Yr 7 of the Extended Associate Program, I was supposed to be on pointe at Intermediate level. I wasn't, however, and no one seemed to care. There was no pointework in year 7.
