I agree with the above. In the case of DonQ, just sit back and let the warm sunshine engulf you. Add a large dose of sheer joy and happiness and if you leave the theatre with a smile, then you have found everything you were looking for.
I found myself smiling throughout last night’s performance of this crazy ballet and watching all the debuts made it that extra bit special. Congratulations to the debutantes. 👏I was so pleased for Meaghan Grace Hinkis, it was a fabulous night for her and lovely to see so many bouquets presented. I’ve always enjoyed watching Luca Acri and really liked his Basilio characterisation, indeed both dancers seemed to support each other beautifully during the evening.
Did anyone get the chance to chat to the dancers at the stage door? I hope they all went home happy.
I’m still quite new to Don Q and am looking forward to the cinema screening now as well as trying to see if I can get to London for one more show…🤔 @Occasional audience member, I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
Hope you’re feeling much better today @Dawnstar

You can still show up on the day and ask them what reductions they have. I've seen expensive tickets reduced significantly when patrons have turned up at the box office desk (knowing from the website that the show has plenty of pricey seats left) 10 minutes before curtain up and said "I only have £20 [or £30 or whatever] - are there any seats or offers available that you can do?" The staff know full well that 30 people with 100 quid are not suddenly going to appear in the space of 9 minutes all wanting to buy tickets.
After struggling with engineering works on my train line a couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be lovely to upgrade my SCS ticket for Don Q. There were still unsold tickets available 5 minutes before the performance started so, being brave, I asked the box office if a discount on any of the empty seats was available. The answer was no.- 1

I’m on holiday at the moment so won’t always have access to Forum but regards partners ( somebody at the talk can correct me if wrong) I thought Kevin said that with the big classics he usually pairs the dancers ( though he did mention another name who also has a say on performances….was it somebody in charge of staging?
Anyway they seemed to have noticed how good the Naghdi/Ball pairing was on many levels so obviously want to show that pairing …I’m sure he also said like Fumi and Will!!
But dancers can have say on some pairings (but I inferred that still at the over sight of the management)Thank you @LinMM, enjoy your holiday!

There was an interesting question about how partnerships were decided by the Company and how much say the dancers had etc. That’s a very interesting question @LinMM, do the dancers have a lot of influence?

I have a ticket for the Hinkis/Acri Don Q debuts and am obviously disappointed that Akane Takada will not be dancing. I wish her well and hope that she is back on stage soon.
However, I think that the whole company will ensure that the 28th is a special evening for everyone in the same way that the Calvert/Edmonds Swan Lake debuts were. That was a fabulous evening, definitely one to remember.

@alisonand @Suffolkgal, I feel your pain and I’m sure there are many forum members in our situation.
I have a ticket for the Don Q matinee next Saturday but it seems there are engineering works on my line. I will plan accordingly and ensure I have a contingency!

Attempted to see the Don Q general rehearsal today by driving to the nearest tube station which is an hour away. All car parks full and the local area practically grid locked as everyone else is trying to get to London too. Gave up and went home… 😢

I have avoided this thread recently as I was really looking forward to the new RB season which, for me, kicks off with the Don Q rehearsal on 30th and I didn’t want any bad news. Sadly, I’ve checked my trains this morning and the industrial action on 30th plus engineering works on 7th are worse than I could have expected. I’m hoping that there might be some better travel news later this week….

Slightly random question but given that this thread is about casting, does anyone know how Teo Dubreuil is? I feel like I haven't seen too much of him on stage this past season. I hope he's doing well.
I have also missed seeing him on stage this season as I think he is a lovely, elegant dancer. I hope we see him in a production soon. 🤞- 5

I’m just catching up with today’s comments and I have to say that I’ve found this a really interesting thread! 😃

That’s an impressive schedule @JohnS! I bought my first standing ticket last season and have found it to be a great way to see more performances even if I do arrive home considerably more tired than when seated.
My strategy so far this season has been to buy front amphi for rehearsals, a good seat for a cast I’m really keen to see (Takada/Acri in Don Q during this booking period) and standing for any other performances. I really enjoy the cinema screenings too.
I haven’t yet bought tickets for Dante or Anemoi/Cello but may reconsider nearer the time.

I have good news! I’ve just received a lovely apology email from the box office waiving fees and offering a combination of credit and refund.
Thanks again for all of your suggestions.

Thank you @capybara, @MJW, @LinMM, @Richard LH and @Linnzi5 for your comments and advice. I’ve been communicating by email and am waiting for a further response. I don’t mind a credit as I will use it and paying the fee isn’t an issue as it does go into the ROH coffers to cover costs.
I just felt it would be fairer to waive as they had made the error but I’ll see what come back with.

At least the ROH provide credit vouchers if you want to return tickets for a booking, so you could consider cancelling The Limit and booking Don Q. instead....
Great suggestion and I contacted the box office after receiving their cast change apology email asking to change my tickets. Given that my buying decisions were based in incorrect information, I asked whether they would they waive the fee. The answer was no.

Really pleased that their performance is back but this morning I bought a ticket to The Limit on 28th instead and can’t make 11th. Frustrating!

The first casting I saw listed Takada/Acri for the 28th October evening. Now it’s showing as Naghdi/Ball. Does anyone know why there has been a change? Takada/Acri now have the 11th November only.
I can come up with some theories but not facts.
I really wanted to see Takada/Acri on 28 October as I can’t make the 11 November performance. 😢 -
Thank you @JennyTaylor and @Naomi M for your wonderful contributions during the tour. Looking at Instagram, the dancers and the audiences seem to have had a terrific time so I may also need to start saving for 2025!

Just wondering whether any forum members have changed their bank holiday plans and need to sell a standing ticket for the 29/5 Matinee? 🤞😀

I'm sure I saw her in the Spanish Dance in Swan Lake last run. I was really impressed with her interpretation of the role. I hope all goes well for her!
I agree and thought she was terrific in the Spanish Dance. -
I’m looking for an SCS or balcony standing ticket for the Sleeping Beauty matinee on 29 May.
Please send a message if you can help.
Thanks.

Delightful @Rob S I’m looking forward to Saturday’s matinee (and my first ever ‘standing’)
I’ve had scs and balcony standing tickets several times this season and am becoming quietly addicted… The price is great, the views of the stage have been consistently good and I can rest on the train home. I still enjoy the luxury of a seat though!- 4

Enjoy your double Cinderella day @JohnS and everyone else going along today. It’s perfect weather for enjoying a day of fairy tale escapism under cover at the ROH! ☔️ 🌧
