  1. Thanks for all the good advice on this. As previous posters have said, there do now seem to be seats on the seat map when the calendar says there are some available. Sadly my work commitments have shifted and 7 March isn’t an option any more, but hopefully I’ll get to see swan lake some time this run. Interesting conversation about access tickets and of course it makes sense for the people who need a particular type of seat to have priority, but I would have thought that for a world class institution the simple (?) task of having a website which is capable of telling someone if there are tickets available or not without them having to go on a lengthy digital mission to confirm if it’s true was a pretty basic requirement! Just as well their core business is ballet not online services as they’re rather good at the former but not so much the latter!!
  2. So as per my user name I am only able to attend occasionally. I am hoping to see Swan Lake and have been looking for tickets (I’m not a Friend so just public ones}. But I can’t make the booking site work. I click on a performance, a message pops up to tell me that, say, there are 27 seats available for that performance, so I click on the seat map and not a single available seat is showing. Is this a known problem or am I doing something daft?? I will be reduced to just ringing up I think. Thanks for any advice. Edit to say I have most recently experienced this for the 7 March performance.
  3. Thank you Rob S. They were all great, but looking at the headshots on the RoH site it was Liam Boswell who stood out for me.
  4. I was very taken with a few of the dancers in unnamed “roles” yesterday afternoon - no way of telling from the cast sheet who they were. In particular one of the four men dancing in ragged clothes as ?urchins? ?scruffy street lads? yesterday afternoon really stood out and if he is an early career artist I would be keeping an eye out for him for the future. Is there more detail anywhere? Does anyone who knows the company well know who those four were? Seems odd that the briefly appearing (lovely) guitar players get a full credit, but not some of the standout dancers.
  5. Well my first Don Quixote experience was everything I had hoped. What a magical way to spend a November afternoon. I laughed at Gamache and Sancho Panza, gasped at the virtuoso variations and nearly cried at the lovely Rosinante puppet as Don Quixote exited the stage. I’ve seen the very well known variations on youtube before, mostly performed by competition students. So enjoyed the “real thing” performed by top notch professionals as part of the whole ballet. Would never have guessed it was Reece Clarke’s debut. Loved Natalia Osipova’s cheeky OTT Kitri. Failed to find the Balletco gang (thought I’d understood Sim’s directions then realised I was about to introduce myself to Kevin O’Hare’s table in the Floral Hall!). Slightly awkward moment as someone had come into the wrong section of the auditorium and they were in my seat, but all amicably resolved. What a treat. Time to start saving up for my next London/Ballet trip!
  6. My first post here after a long time lurking. In awe of the knowledge and insight here. I treat myself to a royal ballet performance about once or at most twice a year and will be seeing Don Quixote on 11 November (it was the date I happen to be in London rather than being fixed on seeing Osipova). I’ve never seen it before, although I’ve read a plot synopsis and am familiar with a couple of the well known variations from youtube. Part of me just wants to experience the perofrmance without pre-conceptions, but what would you be looking out for if you were me? Thanks.
