  1. With the lateral flow tests you do input your results on the Gov site and you get an email and text confirming the result They are fairly easy to do but it is worth reading the instructions thoroughly first. The test looks a bit like a pregnancy test kit with a control line and a test line, so if the control cones up the test is working fine. Result in half an hour and then you input the result into the Gov site I have these tests at home and have to do them regularly for work Good luck with the finals everyone x
  2. We have an idea what would suit our DC best too and that's what its all about 😊
  3. It tougher than I expected. I too entered into this as objective as I could and did DC we were so happy to receive a place at Hammond and mds final like yourselves. Congratulations for both your results 😊 i think we've written off the other 2 now as DC got a no for Tring. Xx
  4. No, just planned for the 17th so we've started process of booking hotel and getting time off school. I believe Tring announced their mds final dates for the weekend, so I'm guessing as it stands they are still planning to go ahead. It will all be down to if the schools re open on the 6th March xx
  5. Hi I registered when we had DCs offer of a funding final x
  6. It really is.... its surreal applying for schools where I am relying on virtual tours and websites to get a "feel" DC seeming to enjoy the process so far and is quite grounded x
  7. Yes I totally agree. I'm trying hard to understand and the whole process in order to effectively manage DCs expectations and to support enough to have a go and have enough understanding to protect DC too, if that makes sense. I was curious about the schools. This year we haven't been able to even visit which makes decisions very difficult. I 100% agree the school has to fit the child and this is the most important 😊 i like to be informed to make informed decisions, the dance world does seem tricky to negotiate. So far DC has enjoyed the process and seems very grounded... so hopefully I've done something right 🙈😂x
  8. That really helps..... I'm just so clueless 🤣 any help gratefully received!! Xx
  9. Ahhh ok.. thankyou for that. I've started this journey nievely I feel! 🤣 and well and truly on the roller coaster, just trying to make sense of it all xx
  10. This is very true. We are on the year 7 journey at the moment and haven't even looked at the schools haha! So far we have one we think will really suit DC Haha yet to do a uni application! Can't manage this lol 🙈 good luck for the university application xx
  11. Thankyou for that. My general opinion is that there are alot of variables i guess for each school. It's a roller coaster journey and I was trying to see if logic can be applied at all (to help) but after you listing the variables it would seem it can't be worked out why a child's is given a no from one school or a yes from another. We are on this journey for Yr7 and I'm intrigued 🤔 as well as already feel we are doing loops on a roller coaster 🤣 xx
  12. I've enjoyed reading topics on this forum for a few years and I've become intrigued about something and that's what the schools look for because it seems to me it's not easy to work out! 🤣 So for getting an offer for finals, for examplea child can get a yes for Hammond but a no for Tring, does it happen the other way around? Or a no for Tring but yes for Elmhurst? or visa versa. Would one yes mean more yesses. So is a no from a school a good yard stick for the other schools? but not all? I'm really unexperienced in this 🤣 Or do all 4 schools look for something different and you just can't second guess, or work out what they may do? I've also read on here that RBS is the one where no one seems to be able to second guess! Sorry for the ignorance!! Just interested and what no's form one dance school for DC might mean for the other schools applied for. I love this forum because there is so much experience and expertise on it 😁 I find it all really interesting.
  13. Thankyou for posting this..we to are new to this and we are also clueless 🤣 dc has a place and mds final for yr7 and don't really know what to expect either....Good luck xx
  14. Yes of course you do and it will be interesting to see what they say. My DC got a straight no, so you DD did really well xx
  15. Hi congratulations on being offered a place, that is a really good achievement in itself. They must have watched the video for them to have offered a place, there will be lots of no's, so being offered a place is fab but disappointing at the same time. So sorry your DD is upset xx
  16. Ahh ok.. very interesting. Hope you get it all sorted such challenging times
  17. Just reading this thread.. is there any chance you can get the rapid testing kits? Can you purchase these? These give results in 30 minutes? DC not on the intensive but had a look at the thread. Do your DCs need a covid test before attending?
  18. I believe the offer is for a non funded place in September with an invite to funding final in March, if you can fund i guess you turn down the funding final and just register for the school, this is how I think it works but someone may correct me 😊 xx
  19. I think all the schools are trying as hard as they can to sort their preliminaries as best as they can and us parents have done all we can in unprecedented times too. I think we all, the children and the schools deserve a medal. It may not be the memories we expected to make form our children's preliminaries but we've definitely made memories. Personally I've laughed, cried and gritted my teeth but couldn't be prouder if my DC for adapting and having a go even if was in the lounge with the cat for a judging panel! 🤣🤣 This forum has been a life saver and a real support too and you guys have certainly helped me keep my sanity so far! 🥰 Good luck everyone xxx
