  1. @Blue Box BalletNot at all. RBS was very simple: At the barre: Pliés Tendus Grands battements in 4 counts Relevés In the centre: Sautés in 1st, 2nd and changements Galops with spring points Temps levés Arabesque Improvisation Hamstring and back stretches Splits Elmhurst was similar except they asked them to hold battements lents for 20 seconds in each position in the centre, and they did pirouettes. Tring was a much more complex class, involving pirouettes from the corner and developpés in the centre.
  2. Does anyone have any idea what "soon" from Moorland might mean, more specifically? The original information says "before April"!
  3. There is absolutely no need to attend the insight day in order to attend and succeed in the audition. That said, the style of teaching at JAs is very different from what your daughter is probably used to and wouldn't suit all 8 year-olds. The lessons are long, so require prolonged focus, and involve a lot of exercises working on tiny muscle groups (and anatomical explanations). My pupil LOVED the insight day which confirmed our decision to apply, but it might come as a surprise to some children and not be what they were expecting, thus why experiencing an insight day is helpful.
  4. Tring letter finally arrived today (Sunday!) and we have a very happy little girl (and teacher!).
  5. That’s lovely. And hopefully by email… 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️
  6. @ponklemumDid they give any indication of when we can expect to hear from Moorland?
  7. @SJBalletNo post at all, yesterday or today. I've emailed Adelia but can't imagine she'll get back to me any time soon because they're so busy with auditions.
  8. I've tried phoning but can't speak to Adelia as she is involved in auditions and the receptionist is very nice, but knows less than I do! This is agony!!!
  9. My pupil auditioned on the same day as @SJBallet’s DD and we haven’t heard yet 😢 Assuming it’s a no, but just want an answer! The poor child has Covid so is isolating at the moment and just spending all day looking out the window for the postman 💔
  10. @NotadanceMaDo you know if they invite people to the MDS audition even if they didn't tick that they need an MDS place? I have heard of this happening, but third hand!
  11. Congratulations @Julsgalaxyand @PurplePirouette! So are we thinking tomorrow or Friday for those who auditioned on 10th?! 😰
  12. @balletboy8Congratulations! That sounds like great news! How exciting!
  13. @Balletdad40Awwww that’s bitter sweet news. Well done to your child for being offered a place into Year 8! When was their audition?
  14. @footloose It really depends on whether or not you think the dancer has improved significantly and/ or changed shape in that time. My pupil has grown and lengthened significantly so we re-took them, but we wouldn’t have done otherwise.
  15. Brand new with tags. Bought from a forum member but sadly too big for me. £30 including UK P&P Can send photos on request but the file is to big to upload here.
  16. That’s bonkers! Not everyone has £160 lying around, especially with all the cost of auditions as it is, and the prospect of paying some fees on the horizon! Is it to cover additional admin do we think?
  17. @balletboy8Yes, we got that exact email, then heard three days later!
  18. The initial training costs seems fairly reasonable, but £550 a year in membership is absolutely extortionate!!! That is ten times how much I pay for my current membership. Such a shame. I would love to do this but cannot afford that, given the scale of my school.
  19. Hello! A question for anyone who’s already submitted their application: Do they ask for a student’s height and weight? Just want to make sure I’ve got all the information before I start filling it out. Thank you, and good luck!
