  1. @SJBallet Yes. It'll be awful if some of us have slower postmen than others though!!! Pretty convinced it'll be a "no" from Tring for us, but we'll see!
  2. @SJBalletShe didn't, but my pupil said that on the day, the receptionist told her three weeks and the audition panel told her two...so who knows! Some point between this Monday and next Monday for us, let's hope! It's torture isn't it?!
  3. Yes, confirmation today from Tring that the results will come via letter, @NotadanceMa @Ottobotto
  4. Does anyone know for sure whether Tring results will come via email or letter? Thank you!
  5. Having been trained in RAD, but now teaching ISTD, I can confirm that the ISTD grades are harder than the RAD ones, so yes, Grade 5 RAD would be about equivalent to ISTD Grade 6. Studying both is useful, but requires some brains as the terminology is often different. It's good to be familiar with both in the "real world" outside ballet syllabi.
  6. I definitely believe that the people looking at these photos know what they're looking for anatomically regardless of the quality of the photo. For anyone seeking a happy medium, I invested in a white photographic background (around £15 from Ali Express!) and borrowed some photographic lights from the school where I work. I set that up in my studio and take audition photos that way. With the ability to crop and adjust lighting on your computer/ phone, they come out looking ALMOST professional!
  7. @dancer20 Thank you for that! I have hastily informed them of my pupil's change of address!
  8. @Ottobotto This is only an invitation to finals, not an offer of a place. I imagine they do not have a fixed number of finals places, so they can see anyone they liked again, meaning they don't need to wait for all the audition days to be over before sending out the emails.
  9. Thank you so much @BalletBoysDad@SJBallet and @balletboy8!
  10. Does anyone know if Tring funding auditions are only offered to those who ticked "funding required", or anyone of a suitable standard? Fully expecting a straight "no" from Tring anyway as the class seemed much more complex than WL and Elmhurst, and my poor pupil had never done jazz before in her life!
  11. Please may I have photos of the remaining Claudia Dean leotards and the Luck Leos? Thank you.
  12. @SJBallet Year 7. I think my pupil might have been on Summer School with your daughter…
  13. @SJBalletThat’s right. Perhaps the emails will be staggered though if you haven’t heard yet?
  14. Yes, they came out on Friday: 4th February with the option of them re-watching the first round video if you can’t make it in person.
  15. I would love to hear how the solos are done if anyone would care to share later. Are they called in one by one or do they all sit and watch each other?
  16. Where are the auditions today? Good luck everyone!
  17. My pupil might be interested if tutugirl is not.
  18. @BeautifuldayGosh, I didn't know the auditions were going on for so long. My pupil's audition is on Monday 10th. Seems like it'll be a looooong wait for results then! Sorry @tutugirlI don't know the answer to your question; they certainly make it sound like a selection process.
  19. @AstridI was a bit heartbroken when JAs asked for tights at half term! For me, the progression from socks to tights has always been a milestone they get excited about. I'm sending my pupil with plain black leggings as "jazz pants".
  20. @Anna CThey’re not prohibiting 10 year-olds from BEING en pointe, but performing en pointe. If they were to start pointework aged 9, they may well be proficient enough to perform en pointe aged 11. As discussed above though, the number of 9 year-olds for whom this would be safe is negligible and there is a big question about why it might be desirable for any. Pointework hurts, is hard and damages feet. Young children should just be allowed to enjoy DANCING and teachers should be ensuring they know how to use their feet and leg muscles optimally and with control so that when they do go en pointe, it is fruitful.
