  1. @BellaF I entirely agree, but @Neverdancedjustamumis right: many children want to see through the process, which is a wee bit selfish but I do understand it.
  2. In the end, it doesn't really matter whether the WL offerees attend their Elmhust/ Tring auditions though because the places will simply be offered to those on the waiting list. It does prolong the agony though!
  3. @SJBalletI think there's likely to be a lot of movement with the MDS places, as the children who are originally offered the MDS places at Tring are highly likely to also have been offered WL and/ or Elmhurst.
  4. @coniger That's great to know thank you. I did actually phone them not long ago and was asked to phone back at 14:15 because she was in a meeting! She was very nice on the phone.
  5. @The red shoes No, we are not being asked for any money at this stage, so of course for US, there's no harm in accepting and then, if she were lucky enough to be offered a place at Elmhurst or funding at Tring, pulling out. I just don't want to mess YDA about unnecessarily.
  6. Hello again! My pupil has just been offered a place at YDA for Year 7, but still has final auditions at Elmhurst (23rd March) and Tring (18th March) to go. The letter from YDA says she has to accept her place by 18th March. Does anyone have any experience of how to deal with this? Thank you!
  7. @ottobotto My pupil's JA teacher told me. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the boys.
  8. @BattementBatty75 girls through to semi finals, 28 through to finals. It's completely different this year. My pupil didn't make it to finals either, but her JA teacher said that in any other year, she (and many more of her friends) would have been at finals. Such a shame 😞
  9. @Lilidance We are in the UK but my student is Romanian, and born in Italy!
  10. @macmac, yes. And whatever footwear is appropriate for the genre of the solo.
  11. @KerfuffleYes: My pupil was on the waiting list for last year’s Summer Intensive but got a straight yes for JAs, having previously received two straight nos for JAs! It’s all so random.
  12. Ohhhh it's all bonkers, isn't it? I've heard every combination of stories under the sun! Basically, once you've combined some innate talent (feet, turnout, proportions, musculature) with decent training, it's all down to luck and who's looking at you on the day! So hard to explain that to our little ones.
  13. We received an offer from Moorland this morning 🙂
  14. Has anyone ever heard of a Year 6 child not getting through to WL finals, but being offered Summer School? Are they separate processes, or linked? My pupil has just had a no from WL but obviously her Summer School application is still active. Thank you!
  15. I phoned Moorland this afternoon because in my experience emails are not replied to. The very pleasant receptionist said she’d ask Mrs Kidd to get in touch 🤷🏻‍♀️ @Ottobotto we are in the same position, but I emailed asking if we could submit a new video and never got any response. Given that someone on here said they were going to get results out “quickly” the long delay feels ominous…
  16. @WaverleyHuge congratulations to your DD!!! My pupil was heartbroken even though she always knew her chances were tiny. Thankfully I was able to break the news in person and talk it through with her. She is extraordinarily resilient though (which will serve her well) and bounced back by going on stage at a festival and placing 1st! She is now more determined than ever for her remaining auditions. Thank you for the support everyone!
  17. No idea about time. I’d assume later. Surely they’ll need to discuss, and I wouldn’t have thought they’d do that over the weekend.
  18. @SJBalletThey said again on Friday (after the extra audition date had been announced) that they would hear on Monday, so I really think they will.
  19. Good luck for tomorrow everyone. It’s going to be a tense day…
  20. In London, it was José Caryol, Mark Annear and Hope Keelan. I’d like to think the panel would be the same across all the centres at this strange to ensure consistency.
  21. Also, don’t give up if it’s a no first time around. My pupil got two straight nos for Year 4 and Year 5, before getting a yes for Year 6. I actually think having only one year of JAs, having had to fight for it, has made it all the more special for her and she has been super engaged right when it’s really mattered for auditions as a result. All things happen for a reason!
