  1. @AstridI asked if socks were acceptable as that’s what my pupil normally wore (before JAs asked for tights) and they said either is fine. I have sent another email asking if socks or ballet shoes would be acceptable instead of jazz shoes as she doesn’t have any and it seems a bit bonkers buying a pair for a one hour class. I’ll let you know the answer.
  2. @balletboy8 I have not received that email. When was it sent? Edit: Never mind! Found it!
  3. Anyone else wondering what Omicron will mean for January auditions...?
  4. Think about where the heel is facing. Inside of the heel down to the floor and really engage the turnout muscles under her bottom. Does she know the theraband exercises?
  5. It's the day after her Tring audition too. It'll be good for her to see the two schools so close together but I hope she doesn't get too tired and overwhelmed.
  6. @PointeperfectMy pupil's audition is on 11th January, but like @balletboy8 said, there are two preliminary audition dates later in January too. Hope that doesn't mean we have a longer wait for results, but fear it may!
  7. I know the deadline for Elmhurst has been extended to 17th December. Are we assuming we'll hear which audition date the Year 7 applicants have been allocated before Christmas? It'll be a bit of a last-minute scramble to organise work shifts/ travel etc. if not!
  8. If you have a gmail email address you may find it in your “promotions” folder. That’s where I always find auditionsteam emails.
  9. @NoideaaboutballetAwww thank you. She burst into tears when I told her! Just getting this far means so much to her. If I'm right, your daughter is hoping for MAs rather than WL? If so, I hope you get the news you want at Easter. It's such a long wait isn't it?!
  10. @balletboy8 Congratulations to your DS! Happy news for my pupil too 🥳
  11. @balletboy8 It seems unlikely it'll be today now, doesn't it? Maybe it'll be two weeks and a day like Newcastle was...
  12. Another vote for Moorland. Excellent teaching and it’s a very full week of dancing. The performance at the end was incredible. It is also selective but they do take younger students.
  13. Nothing from Newcastle yet?! They're not sticking to two weeks then...
  14. I am a dance teacher who also still dances. A dancewear voucher would be so exciting! Just Ballet UK do vouchers and have an amazing range. Otherwise, a Sweaty Betty voucher would go down well I imagine! I would like to add though, that for any teacher, a heartfelt card from the child is worth a million times more than any gift ☺️
  15. @OttobottoNo, it will be staggered, so Newcastle first! I actually think it's a positive thing. It means they're putting through anyone they would like to have another look at, as opposed to being limited by an overall quota.
  16. @OttobottoThe system is different for boys and girls. Boys do not have to attend a semi-final round. JA parents were informed it would be two weeks after the child's audition at an online information evening earlier in the academic year. This was then re-iterated to the children after their audition.
  17. The RBS seems to DELIBERATELY be sending more emails recently just to give us all heart failure every time one comes in 😆
  18. She loved it and sounds very positive about how it went. Just desperately hope she is not disappointed at the first hurdle!
  19. My pupil has her first audition on Monday. At the moment, she is purely excited and I'm hoping the nerves don't kick in and get the better of her on the day. She's also going to be in tights for the first time (as opposed to socks), since apparently that's what they want, so I'm hoping she doesn't fiddle with them! I hope everyone has a happy and positive experience of this process. It's lovely to have this forum.
